Don't you have to request a mail in ballot?

I just got one in the mail addressed to Mildred, the last owner of my house who died here in 08?ish.

Each state is different. And with the pandemic, some states are trying to send ballots out to anyone they still have listed as a registered voter to encourage mail-in voting.

I think they're expecting in-person to be problematic, for a number of reasons.

Mostly the number of reasons boils down the sheer pile of bodies outside of polling places. A couple of good bulldozers could easily keep the way clear for in person voting.

Huh? Get smarter opel. I said it wouldn't fix the problem. I didn't say anything about black people.

In MA we had to request a mail in ballot for the primaries to at least have the option. Had to be in or post marked maybe by a certain date to count.

I seem to recall a bunch of Trump style panic 4 years ago when he also created an escape clause to protest in case he lost...back then it was that people were voting all over the place and were registered more than one place...and the first person to come out in public was Spicer, followed by Kushner and Trump family members!

I I started a thread or posted in one that very few people actually did vote more than once (the two I read about back then both voted for Trump twice) but the issue was really that people re-registered when they moved but didn't notify their old town.

And a few here checked it out and realized they were registered more than once in different locations, I think dstieg found out in a minute!

Virtually all in that category did not move just to be able to vote twice as virtually all in that category didn't even know of their duplicate status...and it has zero to do with party affiliation.

Smooth, verifying your mail in is not done legally by following Trump's suggestion to vote in person too. It's not like hitting a provisionary tee shot in case you can't find your first shot...it's a Federal offense, and for good reason, not for partisan reason.

Dear California Voter,

All California voters will be sent a vote-by-mail ballot with a prepaid postage return envelope for the November 3, 2020 General Election.

All voters can now get critical updates on their ballots through California’s official “Where’s My Ballot?” tracking tool. Signing up takes less than three minutes!

You can select to receive notifications on the status of your vote-by-mail ballot by text (SMS), email, or voice call, including alerts if there are any issues with your ballot and instructions for how to correct them to make sure your vote is counted.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to track your ballot every step of the way!

You are supposed to be able to track ballot sent, ballot received, and ballot counted. I think I’ll sign up for tracking to see if I’ve already voted for Biden and all tax increases!

So for Indiana it looks like you can't vote by mail without a "good reason" and apparently covid isn't an acceptable one. So it's odd that you'd get a mail in ballot randomly this many years since she died (unless you've been getting one every year).

Are you sure it's an official ballot?

How the hell are the people displaced by the fires going to vote?
