I keep seeing an ad on FB for a T-Shirt that says "Don't California My Arizona!"

taxes and other stuff have contributed mightily to this recent trend, absolutely...

also, it's not so easy to stay on top for over a century, it's been a magnificent run. But lots of things have developed and changed in locations outside of CA making them attractive after decades without these options.

Add in brand new dynamics like being able to work from home for a CA corp that is moving to TX without actually relocating yourself...factors like that and modern communication allow for smaller, less costly moves than even just 20 years ago, maybe 10 years ago...

If you have spent more than 50% of your life in Cali and continue to do so you are a Californian admit it or not. It's like pregnancy you either are or you are not.

Do you think in the long run that working for home will affect compensation? Certainly cost of living is factored into how much you need to pay someone to attract them. Now they can live in BFE at a fraction of what it would cost to live near corporate HQ.

I got the Southern California of the late 60's, 70's n 80's in me...great place then...beach scene, night clubs and parties...getaway to the mountains was a short drive away... and less crowded than it is now...lived in five different homes and neighborhoods...only one sucked, and that was in the L.A. downtown area in the early 80's, when Mexican gangs were on the rise...

quality of life has definitely diminished due to traffic and crowds, but it still has its moments, charms, and places....fortunately my wife and I are comfortably retired and we can afford our standard of living here...good neighbors

after travels afar on vacation, always look forward to coming home.......family here.......no plans to leave...


home is where your heart is...if your heart isn't in it, it aint home...
