When you bid $3, you don't just win the ones the sniper tried getting, and retain your bid for $1. That person would've taken the last two at $2 and lost out on the third one to you at $3.

Your $3 bid is for 5 5-packs, you'ld win 5 5-packs at $3 if it closed right after your bid.
