Remind me again, which flavor has full approval from the FDA?

If aspirin was invented last year, it still would be years away from being sold over the counter. But this vaccine, 6 months old, is like some super force field from the virus and been given to anyone willing to go to wait in line at Walmart.

Tell me I'm wrong.

The expert has spoken. Now follow the arrows painted on the floor or else risk getting the Rona and die. Logic, science, and medicine experts told us so.

If you have been injected with the man made serum you are immune now. We have like 6 months of uncontrolled experimental data that says so. You are allowed to go on with your daily life. Logic, science, and medicine backs it up.

If you were exposed to it and your body successfully fought it off like 98.2% of the people that caught it, sorry, not good enough. Mother nature's fix is not as good as our fix. Go get the brand new concoction that was created by logic, science, and medicine experts. Until then, you must still follow our guidelines on restrictions.

The new number is 98.22% please keep up.

Now that I am fully vaccinated I DGAF if there are people that do not want to be vaccinated. I was allowed to make my decision, they should be allowed to make theirs.

As long as they are not endangering my health in a significant manner I have no right to demand anything of them.

Fare thee well.

It is so bizarre that virtually everyone truly educated and immersed in the topic have come to the same or similar conclusions and that’s considered somehow blindly following something. Hint the medical and scientific model does not allow for that. If you find something contrary you must challenge that. Thus the J&J pause.

And yet there is a smaller group that thinks being contrary without any real information somehow makes them smarter. It’s bizarre and can often be tied to politics rather than any real logic.

Throwing out the wrong questions doesn’t accomplish anything. What are the mechanisms of the vaccination. How long have they been studied. What human trials have been used for mRNA previously as well as where has it been used not in trial. What are the results of that use. What changes to prepare it for the next disease. How does that work. What are the impacts of those changes. By impact which components change and what would tgey effect compared to the alread accepted version. Now that it is in the wild are we seeing what we didn’t expect? What impact. Should we pause? Or expand to other ages. Knowing what we know about the mechanism of the shot and how it works are there any potential for long term or unforeseen issues. If so what should we look for. Etc. and much much more.

Bucky I don’t care that you are an antivaxer in this instance. I’m not trying to convince you. I’m just hopeful that others reading recognize that your simplistic view is wrong and don’t listen to you.

We have pretty solid science here and it’s working. There will be breakthroughs and probably boosters. But everything I’m seeing says safe and effective. Not perfect which is what the uninformed cling to.

and Spey that’s exactly it. From a public health perspective I wish they would but from a personal perspective it’s their issue not mine.

I don’t wish ill. I wish my best friends brother had gotten one. He didn’t when he could have and he’s dead at 49. His choice. Bad choice but at least I have mine so he couldn’t easily give it to me before he passed.

It’s a risk reward trade off. If you really look at the equation it’s pretty easy. If you rely on half truths or just don’t pay attention to the science, or worse discard it because it’s politically Vogue in your circles so be it.

And being a balance there will be times it doesn’t make sense to get the shot. Ask your doc to help you with that. I had to think long and hard before I got mine and had to consult with quite a few docs due to my weird non-Hodgkins.

I didn’t just say oh goodie and blindly get the jab for myself. I looked first and the decision became easier. Fir a healthy 25+ it’s a no brainer. Prolly is for younger too but worthy of thought.

those who don't believe in the vaccines are entitled to their beliefs...and should not be forced to get the jab...but they should at least base their fears on facts...

just as those who believe unvaccinated people should wear masks when entering their businesses...

it's not like scientists just sit around and ruminate and then issue decrees...there are thousands upon thousands of studies being conducted...peer reviewable and repeatable...before recommendations are made...since this is a new coronavirus, continued studies result in new discoveries...so far, nothing catastrophic has been seen from treatment recommendations and vaccinations...

close to 300 million doses administered in US and 1.43 Billion doses in the world without any measurable serious side effects...

https://ourworldindata.org/covid-vaccinations

the mRNA vaccines have been studied for decades and have been proven effective against MERS and SARS, which are coronaviruses and very similar to COVID 19...

saw an interview with the doctor who helped to develop the COVID19 vaccine...she said all their previous work pointed them quickly in the right direction...pretty interesting...

Please name 1 mRNA vaccine other than this fast tracked one that has been approved for use on humans. Anywhere, in any country, ever.

People often say "they've been working on them for 30 years, it's nothing new."

Why, then, don't we have any? Over 30 yrs of research on these types of vaccines but nothing has ever made to reality until now. Why?

I’d suggest you do some research.

Some have already been mentioned.

TW, the older I get the less I know. My concern about SARS-COVID2 has very little to do with the now of it. It is about the long term. I would postulate that it should not be a slam dunk decision for a healthy 25 year old. Clearly, I do not k ow much. What I do not know is when that 25 year old is 50 will he/she drop dead from long term PASC related issues that we are unaware of. Maybe organ failure. Maybe systemic inflammation. Maybe due to congestive heart failure. Maybe due to low oxygen level.

Information is unavailable. I can only study the now. More information is available on an ongoing basis. The now for me is real easy. Vaccination is the only choice that is viable. The crap shoot for me is the future. Will PASC issues or vaccine issues more prevalent?

I could really use more raw data but there isn't any. The only data I can even consider is the historical data of all vaccines. I was not willing to wait 6 years ish to see if any vaccine received approval. I do not have that luxury, my best guess is if I catch it again I die. And that is all I have, a best guess. I think that is all any of us have.

I suppose I can understand many people not trusting the data, it is much easier to not trust the data than to admit that interpreting the data is beyond your comprehension. Everyone has dug in and changing opinions is not going to happen. So I cannot afford to give a fluck. They will live with the ramifications of their choice and I will live with mine.

I know I won’t convince you no matter what the answer, and truly the question isn’t even the right one but again for those others reading and on the fence don’t fall in to the anti science trap above.

I’m fortunate enough to interact with those doing the research and human trials for a decade or so. This isn’t new. Think Eli Whitney and reworking a part.

I even sent a recorded call I had with one of the Pioneers to a few folks in here. It’s amazing what has been done and how and the impact this will have on quickly developing safe future vacations when the time comes.

Huge step in this area. As I said the questions aren’t even right.

It’s gotten so weird. Disregard logic, science, medicine, experts, just proclaim things as true and ask others to follow that. It’s so fucked up.
