The Road Not Taken
BY ROBERT FROST
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Probably had lots of ticks, with the grass being higher and such...

Just sayin.

Also, land mines. Not metaphorical poetic ones, real, pop up and kill you land mines. The worn path has likely been cleared.

That's probably why he never comes back to write about the other path.

IMO.

I’m thinking one trail had a sign that said “Whites Only” and the other had a sign that said “Colored”.

In my outdoors experience, roads "less traveled" are called animal paths... they just look less traveled cuz animals don't wear the trail down to bare dirt like humans do... this ain't bad for a hunting poem, but kinda anti climactic...

Frost's intent isn't what most people think it is with this poem. It was meant to be a gentle joke at the expense of a friend he would take long walks with. No matter which path they walked, his friend would always regret their choice. The poem was supposed to get his friend to see that his constant regret was pointless. Once you make a choice you can't take it back. Look to the road ahead instead of getting stuck by "what might have been".

In a letter sent by Frost to Leonidas W.. Payne Jr., November 1, 1927

My poems—I should suppose everybody’s poems—are all
set to trip the reader head foremost into the boundless.
Ever since infancy I have had the habit of leaving my
blocks carts chairs and such like ordinaries where people
would be pretty sure to fall forward over them in the dark.
Forward, you understand, and in the dark.

Is this your curtain call Spey?

His name was Robert Lee Frost, his parents named him after American hero and Confederate General Robert E. Lee.
The poem is metaphorical, did he mean he didn't follow the mob?

Frost wrote letters to many of his friends describing exactly who he wrote it about, Edward Thomas, and why. It can mean whatever you want it to mean to you. I already wrote what Frost's intent was. To Frost. it had nothing to do with following the mob. His intent was to gently chide his friend to stop regretting his choices, whichever path he chose.

^^ This. Follow your own path was the common interpretation spoonfed to the middle/high schoolers. It was later we learned that no interpretation is wrong exactly. But many of the common ones were far from the poet's thoughts on it

In the mountains of New Hampshire there must have been much time to write.

Spey, if this his swan song, has departed in a way more beautiful than donutboy!
But donutboy did so on post 10,000... I seem to believe.

Burned up like a $100 bill.

The Road Not Frankied
BY BGZ
Two roads diverged by some yellow snow,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one with the 3 tracks I saw below
And looked down one as far as I could
To wonder where it bent... that massive wood;

Then took the other, as just to be fair,
Azz is safe yes? At least that was the claim,
Because it was gassy and and had under wear;
Though as for it passing gas all the way there
Surely if Franky saw me, he would spare me the shame

And later that morning woke up equally laid
It leaves no step forward, homey Franky has to stand the f*ck back.
Oh, I kept the fist for another day!
Yet knowing how it would help ease the way,
I ain't every going to get that normal sh*t back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh... and in pain
Somewhere ages and ages from now I'll wince you know:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— am insane
I took the one with 3 tracks in the snow,

And now my sphincter is broken... the end
