Hey Red Cross. Question for you.

Have seen commercials for your company. Give blood etc etc.

Heard also that one donation can save as many as three lives.

Also know due to disease, travel. sexual proclivities, and the appetites for people to get a new tattoo on a regular basis, the number of people who can give is becoming smaller all of the time.

Once a person gives blood- after the initial direction to the juice boxes and cookies, is a reminder you can give again in 60 days. Okay.

How about a little something.... you know.... for the effort? What price to you put on lives? (Guess you could ask me the same thing). How about $1,000 per donation? If that pint of blood saves three people, isn't $333 a bargain for a human life?

Not worth it, eh? How about $100? $33.33 a life. Still no?

Big thing in my world is Do Your Actions Match Your Words. To me, you are falling short.

Ok, so the last time I donated, there was information provided on how if I give again within a certain window of time, I could be eligible for an Amazon gift car valued at $10 (subject to terms, limitations and exclusions and the gift card you may or may not get will be received in 60-120 days if qualified).

Something about the arrangement doesn't sit entirely well with me.

Am not trying to get people to not give blood. Many of us here either have needed it or have loved ones who needed it. Seems like they are getting off on the cheap.

Are lives truly worth nothing to you? Unless of course someone gives plasma.

Not a rant as much as a curiosity.

The Red Cross Did some real shady stuff at the end of WWII... alleDgEdly

So did the Catholic diocese in Venice Italy...
I believe what the fishes did was way worse...
Like helping nazis escape to south America, uraguay, Paraguay, Chile, Argentina...all Catholicism countries after Spanish conquering...

my daughter regularly gave blood while she was in college for a couple of years...she did so about once a month or so...they continued calling our house for her for a few years after she graduated, but she had moved out by then...

my wife and I said, "it's the vampires calling for Lauren"

I went to donate when I was in college in the 70's, but the ARC determined I had hemophilia and urged me to get tested...turns out I have a rare blood disorder, which makes me ineligible to donate

Buddy of mine got me the Bonfire box set for my birthday years ago. 4 disc set.

Came with an AC/DC bottle opener... which is in my tacklebox. Guitar pick, too, but I have no idea where that went.

For a few years at work, I was a volunteer blood drive coordinator for our area. One of our local hospitals is the South Eastern Burn Center. They invited us to lunch and a tour of the burn center, they needed blood. They had burn patiaents waiting on surgeries simply because they did not have an adequate supply of blood. Meanwhile, I heard so mny BS excuses for not donating it was rediculas. If you have a real reason not to donate, then don't, just get someone else to take your place.

FWIW, we had both Red Cross and Sheppard Blood, I heard al sorts of stories about both, so what, most of it is an excuse not to donate.
