Hello new to buying from the site- I received my winning bids today and wonder how long I should keep in my humidor before smoking?

I myself don't wait, puff ROTT.

Some smoke rott right off the truck some don't. I generally smoke one then put them to rest.

usually wait a minimum of two weeks, but for some cigars that I'm anxious and curious about, I do what corey do...

Cigars sold by online vendors are typically stored at 70F and 70RH, the industry's "standard"...for most of us that's too wet and results in some burn issues and some harsh flavors...so we let them rest a bit to dry out some...a few guys will put a cigar into a "dry box" for a day or two to speed up the drying process...

If they were new ones to me, I used to light one up right away. Usually turned out ok but the couple weeks plan is a good one.

I try to wait a full month. Try.

However, if I read a review from someone I respect (e.g., The Katman…) and he recommends 3 months or more before ashing one up, I’ll wait those extra few weeks. But, that’s just me, ymmv.

One week for every day of travel………….minimum.
If they have humidification in the packaging, three days for every day of travel.

This comes up allll the time, most peeps have already stated the obvious above, but 90 days is good yardstick. As has been said, a lot of sticks are shipped way to wet and smoke terrible ROTT. I've got some boxes that took almost 9 months to become smokeable if just tossed in the humidor (all the HVCs I've gotten have been that way, not sure if that is endemic to the line, just an observation over several boxes). I mean, you've bought a few, so feel free to try one ROTT, but if it's kinda harsh, muted, or has difficulty staying lit, leave the rest to nap.

I buy enough to last a year or more at a time.

Short go-to smokes that have consistently performed well straight from the shpo I'll smoke right away. The rest sit for months or even years before I smoke em. My last order was a box of PCR, 25 baitfish, box of Herrera Esteli, and a box of MF le bijou. The baitfish I lit one from the box before it even went in the house. The rest will probably wait until I get tired of the baitfish.

If you have a certain humidity level you prefer, it's going to take a few weeks to acclimate. Some truly need rest and not just acclimation. Your taste and the cigars burn performance will tell you.

Smoke them right off the truck.

Actually, if you have a softy palate you might want to wait, but if you like strong cigars... right off the truck.

Anyone telling you to wait, that's like old guard "knowledge" that's been spread over and over without any evidence that it's what you should do... keep in mind, most of us don't age cigars, most of us store them (there might be a couple people on here that actually age cigars, but they're rare).

I'll tell you this, if you rather have the oils from the cigar become one with the cellophane instead of the cigar, then you should wait.

If you rather your cigar be several times weaker than it was when you got it... then you should wait.

If you smoke cigars because you like to smoke cigars, then smoke em if you got em.

For Diesel brand I never smoke ROTT- wait 3 months. Reminds me that I should start smoking some of the older ones.

A lot of cigar makers these days are not fermenting their tobacco long enough. This leads to a nasty chemical/ammonia flavor showing up anywhere from 1" in to halfway through the cigar.

For mild, Connecticut wrap cigars, I usually let them rest nekkid (out of the cellophane) in the cabinet for a few weeks to a few months.

For 'stronger' cigars, I usually let them rest nekkid for at least 6 to 12 months; sometimes longer.
