The two doors down neighbor lady's cancer is back. That is three cancers within five houses on my side of the street. She is married to a Viet Nam vet who is a little squirrely the way it is. Can tell he's shook. He's been being treated for 20 years now for some disease that has all the hallmarks of Agent Orange. The only thing the VA keeps telling him is there isn't a link between his symptoms and Agent Orange.

One of the service techs at the shop has had a hell of a year. His foundation isn't strong to start with.

-Alcoholic (although dry now)

-Regular user of an array of narcotics.

-Pack a day cigarette smoker.

-Athiest.

-Has two devil tattoos.

-Single and does no cooking. When he works, always a fast food lunch.

-Doesn't drink anything that doesn't come out of a can (zero water intake). When not at work, he eats at Northwoods bars.

Any time I talked with him about the barest of suggestions of drinking water, mix in some veggies, etc, his answer was always '&uck it. Can't wait to die'. Explained I was on that same path, and there is no guarantee you'll go all at once.

Two weeks ago, he had a massive stroke. No short or long term disability coverage. Two weeks in ICU, he's now in inpatient stroke rehab. Can walk with the aid of a couple nurses, blurry vision, the prognosis is less than great. 55 years old.

My mom is in hospice care.

Am also wondering if Sunonbeach has an update on his family's situation. Prayer sent in the direction of his family.

My 80yo mom had her's replaced through her groin (angioplasty-like) and went home the same day (8 hours after the procedure).

This time, I felt numb until the oral surgeon started screwing in the implant...holy carp!!! Pain was so severe the nurse noticed my face and body tensing up and tried holding my arm in a reassuring manner. Broke out into a sweat as Doc started counting the number of turns made by the tool that was used to drive the implant in. 5-10 was bearable...10-15 was when my eyes squinted involuntarily and the nurse grabbed my arm...when he got to 20, I nearly blacked out...20-30 was the most pain ever in a dental chair, up to that moment...it would get worse...then he said he was ALMOST done...just a few more hand tightening turns...OMG...those last few turns hurt worse than when the morphine wore off after my knee replacement surgery and they transitioned me to oxycodone...

Word to the wise...if you need a tooth implant, especially a rear molar, which typically requires a screw-in implant, choose the general anesthesia over the local, if you're given a choice. The local barely had any effect on the sensation of pain.

Propofol.

Man that sucks! I wonder if the anesthetic was defective. It happed to me during my second radial keratotomy. I have a hight Paine tolerance, but it was very uncomfortable getting radial cuts in my eye and being scared S'less to move.

I have one implant, it was all done with local anesthetic.

[-o< and good vibes coming from MA. Same to the Doctors doing the procedure(s). I hope all goes well, little to no complications and a quick recovery.

That's a tough one. Hopefully things work out for him and his wife. I imagine that it's hard to see happen. If he want's to go, then there is very little you can do to for him to take a different route.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your Mom and your family. That also has to be a rough one. It took many months for me to accept that my Dad is physically gone. His his spirit lives within me and all those that he touched.

I hope your Mom's progress is better than my Dad's final result. Humans don't live forever and the end is hard (at least for me) to accept.

The only time I had a serious surgery (well, not super serious like getting a new knee or hip type of thing) was when I lopped off part of my thumb. They had to lop off some more of my thumb to get a clean cut before they could "fix" it.

I told them to knock me out. They did. They also gave my hand a bunch of Novocaine local shots. When I woke up from the surgery, I had no pain in the hand. Wow that was easy.

They gave me a script of some oxy sort of pills and said take them as needed for pain.

Me: It doesn't hurt. I don't need pain killers.

Them: Just in case, here's an oxy prescription. Take them as needed for pain control.

About 6 hours later the Novocaine wore off and the thumb was screaming in pain. I was "holy Frank, that franking hurts!" Bone pain is the worst I've ever experienced.

Had to pop a couple pain killer pills for couple days to numb the pain. I never finished the prescription, I only used it when I couldn't bear the pain. I have an addictive personality and I didn't want to become addicted to the meds. The rest of the script was flushed down the toilet.

I have a weird issue right now. I sunscreen our kids in the morning before they get dressed. We usually use a non-scented sunscreen but Costco stopped carrying it so my wife bought soemthing different that has a really strong (to me) scent of fake baby powder. I used it twice on the kids over a week ago and then stopped because i couldn't stand the smell and it stuck with me on my hands after 10+ hand-washings throughout the day. No thanks. Fast forward to a week later and I still am smelling the smell all the time. At my office, on my hands, getting into my car... It;s like the memory of the smell is burned into my nose permanently. Oddly enough, the night prior to using the smelly sunscreen for the first time, I had to clean out the trash container of really bad rotten meat smell and thought it was sticking in my nose after I finished cleaning and the next morning after I woke up.

Anyone esle get scents stuck in their noses for a long time?

My cardiologist said to leave my 70% clog alone since it wasn't impeding blood flow, but I guess since this is open heart they figured may as well do it while they're in there. I think if mine gets stupid they can just stent that one, too.

Was home for 4 days, continued to vomit like he was in the hopsital. Was taken to a different hospital, an hour north of Green Bay.

In Northeastern Wisconsin, this place is a moderate to highly regarded veterinary farm shed.

He's apparently angrier than ever, is not taking visitors, and has tunred his phone off.

Prognosis isn't good. The prayers continue. Now it is up to the Big Guy.

It is be either ..... Yes ....... Not Yet ...... or I Have Something Else in Mind
