Some cigars lose strength and sometimes flavor after a yr or two, while others stand the test of time in a humidor.

I am currently smoking an Oliva Serie V from December 2016 and it is just what I would expect it to be--strong and peppery. In other words, it hasn't lost anything.

What are some of the cigars that stand the test of time for you?

Off the top of my head:

1) My Father Original
2) DPG Blue
3) Oliva Serie V
4) Padron x000 series

Most Fuente age well including the Montesino Maduro. I have a box of Montesino MD Robusto that I got about a year ago and forgot about. I opened the box just recently and think they must have been sitting for a while before the got to me because the cello is dark yellow. Anyway, they're delicious, better than rott for sure.

I agree Oliva V ages very well as it should as such a strong cigar.

The DE undercrown maduros have been aging well for me so far

To narrow down PW's point, I find that most Fuente Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapped cigars age well, not so much the Cameroons. Anejos, Flor Fina 8-5-8, and Hemingways are my favorites for those longer term resting. I also enjoy well-rested Rosado and Sungrown wrapped cigars. Every Opus X that has 5+ years on them have also been very good.

You can never go wrong with Padrons in either Natural or Maduro and in almost any series.

I vaguely recall an earlier thread(s) about aging / resting cigars but couldn't find it. You might wanna try to put more effort than me into searching for it / them. Good luck!

Anyone remember the El Cobre? They were wicked stronk, but after a year or two they were great (and cheap)

The AF Double Chateau shade I am smoking are from boxes I put in the humidor in December/1988 and they are one of my favorites. I smoked a boatload of these when I first started smoking cigars 40+ years ago. Over time I started smoking stronger and stronger. Now I have a daily diet of full bodied sticks but I still like to hit these every now and then to keep from getting burnt out on the stronger cigars. Mostly on weekends I'll layer in some mild and medium to keep the ol' taste buds in tune. Hey, it works for me. I also prefer to mix in alot of new stuff. That's what bought me to Cbid was tired of the larger samplers were getting boring. As the seller I was buying from kept putting the same brands and blend in his samplers. So far I got a better mix and better prices here. Saw a plenty this week and will be a regular from now on I hope.

You've gotta be crazy. There no way my little hunt and peck is answering all those questions.

So here we go. I'm a retired contractor. I specialized in ultra high-end homes and historic restorations. Live in NC with my wife of 32 years. Been smoking cigars for 40+ years. Have a 4000+ humidor and adding more tupidors. My favorite cigar is the Cuban Montecristo #2 of which I have 3boxes and a piece from 1989 left. I think the Cubans took a hit in the 90s and the #2 came back that and there's no way I'm paying the new prices. Also no offers to buy as there is no way I could replace them. I smoke a lot of well aged cigars as well as looking for the next fantastic cigars. You see me around the cigar forums as I'm involved with a bb and their political forums are driving me crazy. I'll post reviews of some of what I'll smoke but will warn you in advance that seldom do I taste all the notes you see in ads. But I'll be honest with my opinion and that's what you'll get. Well bedtime here so till tomorrow, stay smokey.

How long does it take before the cello begins to show yellow? Different according to wrapper I’d bet. What is your experience brothers? I’ve never kept a cigar more than a year, probably more like 9 months I’m guessing.

stogieflyz, my advice is to stay away from the politics forum. If someone really bugs you, just put them on your ignore list. I also do not get many of the notes people say they are getting from a cigar and if I really wanted those flavors I would get them by other means. If you would answer one of the questions posed, have it be the Pancho or Cisco one.
Also we have a member (stogie 1020) who is one of the commie 13, a list by a short term poster. As far as I know none of the commie13 are communists.
