They buy from us. But if you think that this little country, supports this economy enough to make much of a difference, than you underestimate the size of our economy.

OK, I'll take your word for that, but I dont think that is reason enough, to not boycott them. They dont like us. We shouldnt support folks that think they are above us. They are arrogant towards the US.

I bet they need us more than we need them, as far as economies go anyway. Our economy even though stressed, at this time, is still much better than theirs is.

Chris I gotta hit it! Getting late. Good debating you. Take care!

One last thing about them being accomplished at certain topics.

I noticed you didnt mention economics. Thats part of why they are making the decisions they are, MONEY, they need it.

They get much from dealing with Iraq. They dont want us to screw that up for them!

OK... I didn't go to bed yet... and Yes Mag, Your Right... along with Germany, North Korea, China and almost all the Nations that are Opposing a US Strike on Iraq... they Trade with Iraq Out Right... even though the Un put Sanctions on Iraq... these Country's still on a Daily basis do there Trading with Iraq... what they don't want to have to deal with is Trading with the US Abroad... and knowing full well the US like in Serbia and Afganistan are the one's left behind to clean up and set up Order in the Country (Iraq) if it may. and this in way of thinking May Cost them More then what there getting there deals for right now with Iraq under Saddam's Rule...
One thing I think (IMO) really Hurt Colin Powels Address to the Un. Was the fact that he mentioned in the end there about Human Rights Violations... Many Nations on the UN are Guilty as sin of the same Violations... they do not want to hear the US Bringing up that Issue....

Now Good Night and Thanks all for the Debates!!!!

Mag,

Are you suggesting that we are not dealing with Iraq out of economic interest as well? Surely you wouldn't say that. We clearly are. The French may have a different economic interest, but it isn't true that we aren't very motivated by economics.

Also, I would hope that our economic relations with other countries go beyond who 'says nice things about us.' I mean, seriously, this isn't grade school. Who cares what the French say? It is an ECONOMIC relation. We aren't boyfriend and girlfriend.

Are you suggesting boycotting every country that thinks and says negative things about the U.S.? Well, if that is the case, get ready to have an isolated and self-sufficient economy. Our arrogance on the world stage has earned us NO friends.

John,

Where did you hear from the President or Powell, that this is a war about economics? Its about the UN resolutions that havent been honored.

I dont want speculation but facts. I want to know when those words actually were said to the citizens of this country. Maybe I missed something, but I dont think so.

I think that Getting rid of Saddam is like, killing three birds with one stone(this is my opinion only). It not only disarms him and makes the world a lot safer, but also stops him from harming his own people. Also he is the one paying families of the suicide bombers to do the terrible acts. $25,000 for each bomber.

US intelligence has found a spread sheet of the names of the suicide bombers, what weapons were used, and how many people were killed in each instance. This isnt random killing by individual extremists, but organized terrorism. This spread sheet proves this to be fact not fiction.

Financing for terrorism is being done in this country by phony charities, that dupe people into believing the money is going to a just cause. The new intelligence findings connect Iraq to these facts. This fact was on the news this morning.

Since we have 2 very good reasons to go after him I am for it. The 2 are, UN resolutions and the war on terrorism. Either reason on thier own, works for me.

Now about France.

Iraq owes France, Billions of dollars, for the trades on arms and food theyve made. France also does oil exploration in Iraq. The French are buddies with Iraq. But at the same time, dont think they can disagree with them for fear of losing out on the money owed to them. There are many Iraquies living in France. The French dont want to mess that up either, because of the threat of terrorism from some of these people within their own borders(suicide bombers). I would bet that France would rather deal with a rational leader in Iraq, they just dont have the guts to say so, they would rather inforce thier relationship with Iraq by going against us instead. No guts to do whats right. Thats why I will boycot Frances products.

Are we going to wait until Saddam hits us with terrorist acts within our borders? I hope not. Are we going to stand by and watch while others are attacked by terrorists?

This is about humans being allowed to live in peace eventually. It is too bad that a war has to be the way we must do it. Sometimes there arent any other effective ways of doing it. We arent dealing with a rational leader here.

If you believe that Iraq destroyed thier weapons of mass destruction, and arent hiding them, then I think you have been duped by them too. This morning missle technology and parts, launching pads and warheads have been discovered by inspectors and reported. These missles have a range beyond the 93 mile limitations set by an earlier resolution.

He didnt turn these weapons over voluntarily, like he was supposed to, they were discovered by inspectors. Do you still want to trust him now? I dont. I'm sure its the tip of the iceberg.
