Came home Monday from a trip to Jamaica. Our little side trip to Havanna was put on hold until we actually obtain our passports (travel agent in Montego Bay said birth certificates were fine - WRONG!!!) ASAP.

Anyway, great trip nonetheless! Expressing my disappointment in obtaining Cuban cigars for my brother-in-law (and at least one for me and my hubby to try), our driver suggested a little shop that carried the Cubans.

Being total *cringe* newbies, we went for the brand I recognized - Cohiba. They are the Esplendidos. I have 14 left in the wooden box.

Could any of you officionados please suggest what they may be worth by the piece or in total? I truly believe they are the genuine thing after searching cigarnexus for authenticity.

wow...our first female on this BB..Cool...Welcome!..CA is Cigar Aficionado's website..www.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.com...figure it out...We can't post other companies website addresses here...It would be in bad taste to our hosts..They have a sharp counterfeit gallery there and you can examine and compare the bands (although that is only one minor detail when verifying authenticity(sp)..You need to check out many other things such as color of the wrapper, length, ring size, construction, etc...Good luck Chick!

$7.86 is a great price. I've been paying about $10.00 each from my source for the Esplendido. You got a deal!

$7.86 is too good to be true. Even in Cuba, they cost about $240 box. Jamacia is notorious for fakes.

I went to the CN counterfeit website to be sure on a suggestion. I have ALL of the hallmarks, labels, bands, etc...in and on my wooden box. The gars are so beautiful and smell unbelievable!!! I love it!!! If by chance they are fake in the end, then I gotta hand it to the person who made these...they're perfectly colored, rolled and the caps look great. I'm not worried, there ARE real ones out there, right? Or are ALL cigars marked Cuban fake?! I'll enjoy them!

PS...$240 a box= $10 each. At another website, it was posted that they cost just over $4 each in Cuba. As I see it, the retailer still made close to a 100% markup. Remember, these only made it as far as Jamaica, AND I purchased them at a local place not a tourist trap.

Hey Chick, Here in illinois alone for Tabacco or Alcahol the State get's 18% right from WHOLESALE (when you purchase) Then if your a Business you are the employee- So then you have Insurance's on yourself add another 15% to cover that. then the Sales Tax is 7.25%
and then if you want to keep your Lights on you need to add your mark up on-top of that!!!!!!!!!

Hog, by local place I meant "local Jamaica". I own 3 businesses in San Diego and always deal with the small business guy (or girl, hehe) as much as I can. I started my own business when I was 18 and it's still going strong. Believe me...I've jumped through every f--kin' hoop you can through at me! THAT'S THE PRICE OF OWNING A BUSINESS! If a salesman wants to sell me cigars at a great price, so be it. My H-U-S-B-A-N-D (read "male") was the one negotiating, so don't go pull that female sh-t on me. Cigar snobs suck...at least I'm still learning about cigars and see them with a breath of fresh air AND I still love how they smell if I pass someone by that has one lit up (and usually comment on it)! Not to mention that I actually enjoy a good one on occasion in the company of friends and loved ones.



I just am not a 'daily' smoker...and because of that some of you want to wish me away, but there's more that stand behind me in my freedom to post or leave and come back as I see fit. I've actually acquired several nice friendships here.
