John - You are a very intelligent person. You know that our students (regardless of age) are impressionable. Especially by the mentors and leaders in our classrooms.

I encourage your opinion and would like for you to continue to voice it. I enjoy hearing different opinions about volatile subject such as this one. In that way, I can learn from you and others. I can objectively view the actions or reaction of people in trying times. Such as today's times.

Fact. A lot of students look to superstars and "Strongly" support what these people advocate. The Chicks (in my opinion) over reacted in an adverse mannerism which I refuse to tolerate and will boycott any and all things associated with them.

Bottom Line: We cannot allow "Super Stars" or mentors to trash our Nations Commander in Chief.

Just my thoughts.

As for students and professors, you couldn't be more wrong (again).
I love college students, and I still maintain contact with many of my professors. In fact, I had dinner, beers and watched a hockey game with them just a few weeks ago.

Don't be so broad in your accusations. It is merely the pea-brained Liberal Left professors and students that I loathe. And not so much the students. They'll likely get a job, pay taxes, and then form their own political beliefs without their tree-hugging professor giving directions.

I'd like to love college students, but I can never get any consensual behavior... Maybe it's the receding hairline? Or maybe it's my intro line, how would you like to participate in a poll on our staff?

I read Mein Kampf while a Political Science major in college, and found it dull, boring, and the ideologies consistent with that of a sociopathic spurned lunatic. Did you read it?

When listening to the sweet harmonies of the Chicks, and the lyrics of their songs (which are benign), I just don't experience that same feeling of revulsion as when I read this (very questionable) German literature. Oh well, different strokes.

I do appreciate your zeal and perspective on what's happening in the world these days. While I share many of your views, I'm just not as zealous. Good thing Natalie isn't an Iraqi singer/citizen speaking out against its leader or she'd likely be dead. It's great to be an American, isn't it! Sorry to tell you, but the days of McCarthy are long over and gone. If you, and others, choose not purchase Chick records, more power to you that's your right. But you will not influence my free thinking ability to purchase their music if I so choose. I love America!!! 🙂

Natalie Maines has the right to speak her mind. People tend to overreact when they ascribe importance to who she is and what her opinion is. Natalie doesn't like President Bush, so? The past presidential election indicated that about half the people in the country aren't all that fond of George Bush...nor was half the population that fond of Al Gore.

The reality is that for all the Dixie Chick boycott talk, their most recent CD, after 31 weeks on Billboard's Top 200 survey is still #16. Check Ebay for tickets to Dixie Chicks concert tickets. There goes the cigar budget. Most reasonable people pay no attention to Natalie Maines, other than for her very special vocal talent.
