If you were in a union, you would sing a different tune. Jealousy gets you nowhere!

I had the same opinons until I got a union job. Im set for life. And YES I do work.

I'm in a Union... and was in a Union Before... So far they have not done Squat for me... and the Previous Union Didn't do Squat for me...at one time with the Previous Carpneters Union... Working "Mill Scale" Hollow Metal and Door Hardware shop... anything outside working the shop was Commercial Scale... the Employer forgot to add my Outside Scale on my Check that week $250-260 Bucks over shop scale... Promissed they would pick it up on the next week check... week came, didn't add it again... I went to the Hall... BA had long talk with the Company Man.. Even though the Promiss was there.. C. Man Told the BA he wasn't going to pay it... BA comes over to me.. he say's you waited to long to Notify us of this Problem until now... 1 Week, he say's Well I can get you your Money, But you will lose your Job AND you will be sitting in the Hall an Awful long time...OR you can foget about the Measly 250 bucks and remain working here and all will be ok... I Said Mr. BA Sir.. you mean to tell me.. You are to Represent me and thats what my Due's are paying you to do... but in this instance I'm going to be Out of work for a long time? I said you know what... I can forget about the Money... It's Only food off my Table and I'm Raising 3 kids... So I went back to work... 3 days Later I went to work for an Outside Contarctor and never did go through the Hall... I was makin 5-600 bucks more a week... Installing and Keying locks and setting doors and Hardware... and about 3 months went by I stopped in to pay my Due's... guess who I run into... Mr. BA man... He say's Hey what you did to "Company" was Wrong and I could have your Card pulled for that... I said Get on it... I'll work the same Job and even make more Money then I was.... there's a demand for my Specialty line of work and you can't stop a workin man from makin a living... all you can do is Rob him from his Pay... I walked out... word had it he was so pissed off at me he did try and pull my card... he also had dealings with my Pension when I withdrew and the deal with the Forfiet.... I also knew they couldn't Keep workers in that Shop I left... running them through the hall and now the Company has been Belly Up for a Couple Years I see the Coke Head once Owner every once in awhile I just tip my Hat and toss em the Bird!!!!! whats he gunna do?? start something? I wish he would... I got 250 bucks to take out of his A$$!!!!!!

hehehe, little story about "The Union". Funny post above, "In unity, there is strength!" I have found that EXACTLY the opposite is true. Unions breed conformity, and extinguish creativity and desire for personal productivity. Quite the contrary, if you're in a union and you "shine" either through hard work or innovation or a combination, you are clearly viewed as "subversive" because by virtue of your virtues, you make the others look bad. Oh it's a great deal for the average performer, they're not judged on their performance or held to high standards, they're just expected to follow their methods and procedures, show up on time, leave on time, and God forbid they should ever work through a break... That's not the spirit that built this country or that makes it great. Nothing personal, I just think unions are remoras on the fin of productive society. Quietly sucking excessive dollars for the lackluster performance of their otherwise unremarkable clientele… I think a man should be judged by the content of his character and personal qualifications and performance, not the weight of his charter or his shop foreman… This may sound harsh, but I have personally witnessed a bunch of good for nothing lazy ba$tards in unions who couldn’t keep a job as a bathroom attendant with their bad attitudes and poor work habits.

Sorry, I started to tell a story, but got carried away with my opinion in my post. I just re-read it and it was damn fine! So here's the story, I'm working in a central office (telco)as a data tech troubleshooter. I have "a union" representative showing me around, where to jack in, etc... I'm working a problem for a BIG customer, a bank or someone, I can't remember. But they were PISSED OFF because of some on-going problems. Well, I was on it. I was like a blue tic hound lookin to tree a coon and I could smell it. Closer, closer, no the other way, closer, closer, So I almost have the problem licked, the "lady" escorting me looks at her watch and says, "I get off at 4:30" (she was glaring at me). I said, I appreciate that, but we're so close and we've been on this for 4 hours. She simply continued her glare and began slowly shaking her head from side to side, like some sort of psychotic tennis fan watching a long volley... I could see she was not happy with my "enthusiasm". Five o’clock, I said? The volley continues... 4:31 I quipped!? With that her trance like head shaking stopped, she turned and stomped away, and momentarily, I was greeted by "the shop steward". WHAT'S THIS I HEAR ABOUT YOU RIDING ONE OF MY EMPLOYEES!! He was on me like I would be on the girl in the "Car? What Car?" post... The fact about it is, both he and she were MUCH more worried about their rules of engagement than the fricken customer!!! COME ON GUYS!! THIS IS WRONG! You can't get ahead that way. Unions are the bane of modern society. They had their place, but they're obsolete and a drain on modern business. They driven numerous companies out of business and will continue to do so until they finally die through entropy...

Hello All,

I do not have the time to read the entire post, in my past post, I have conveyed my support of your governmonts dicision making regarding this war. Butt, (Rick hold on to your hat, and beleive it or not I have always felt this way), I have fears that there is possible bad consequences for initiating this war, and fears of bad consequences for not going to war.

Of the muslims nations, I beleive there is not one nation that has a truly democratic society. They are a people that 5% of the population wields the power and has the wealth, and the other 95% live in poverty and are bullied into submission. I don't think we will be freeing the people of Iraq, they evil Dictator will be gone, but, the prosperity of the people will remain the same you are either one of the few that has it, or, on of the many poor. Secondly, I fear we will end up with a Palastine, small groups of people killing people including our troops everyday for years to come.

On the flip side, I support the war to eliminate such an evil person, Sadam. I hope the recent bombing didn't get him. This would have been a painless out for a person that has slowly tortured so many. If it is shown that Sadam had no weapons of mass destruction, (I doubt this is a likelyhood) I don't think that matters, because if didn't have them today, and was left alone, I am convinced he would have acquired them and would use them.

We live in a dangerous world, we have developed most efficient methods of killing, killing that is like playing a video game, where you don't feel the consequence of moving a joystick ro pushing a buttom. Unfortunately, with all this technology, there is still evil people in the world, that has taken the place of the Hitler's, the Musilinies, or the Sadam's that out of their own twisted ideals would kill hundreds of thousands of people.

I have adult children, a 30 daughter with three grandbabies, a newly married 27 son and a 16 year old daughter in High School. I have l thus far lived a full life, it is theirs and their children I worry for. I ask my youngest what she thought about the war, she and friends think it is wrong. It would be nice to think that other children in the world holds this same opionion so when it became their time to run things, maybe wars would be few and far apart.

I have bashed people that have said I am against the war, but, support our troops. This is an oxy-moron.

I support the war and our troops, though as you can see it is not as I view it, all glorious, waving the flag of freedom and rejoicing that we are going to make the world a better place, because we are at war.

You know we say, "God Bless America", I am sure all other countries think they also have their blessings. I don't think God meant us to act this way.

Anyway, sorry to have been too wordy, hope I offended none with my thoughts. I disagree with many that post on this website. But, I do feel most people that inhabit this site are good decent individuals, with good intentions.
