After smoking a PAM 24, 40th anniversary cigar today - while it was nice, I enjoyed the next cigar, a Room 101 Namakubi Ecuador Cigars Papi Chulo 4x42 noticeably more.
Then it dawned on me, remembered similar experiences with Liga 9, and God of Fire, series B.
They all seemed muted in flavors compared to a Tat 10th anni noella, Coronado corona, and a number of smaller ring gauges I frequently smoke.
The more I think about it, all of the cigars that were higher dollar and disappointed me were only available in larger ring gauges.
Perhaps that is a big part of it, because now that I am into smaller ring gauges larger ring gauges seem more muted to me in flavor compared to the smaller sizes.
May well be that I now am so used to the smaller ring gauges that most of the larger ring sizes just won't cut it for me now.
ETA for clarity.
The PAM, Liga 9, GOF b were all really nice smokes. They just didn't do as much for me flavor wise as what I normally smoke, and were disappointing, Particularly when you factor in price.
