"Besides, how much fun would it be, if there was a forum already set out for us, where we could not have the opportunity to create our own world, just the way each individual wanted his/her particular post to look like?"Slim, have you ever used any other BBS software but this one? You don't seem to be grasping what I am talking about here. Question for you:
Do you handcode HTML into your emails too??? ;o) Also, before people start thinking you are teaching them HTML, I should point out that ( and ) are not used in tags. We use
FYI: The INFOPOP Ultimate BBS software as well as most others allow you to use a simple form of markup code within a message in addition to formatting using a GUI interface, although there is really little need to do so since
EVERYTHING you are doing here can be done in a fraction of the time. You have the option to use either one or both.
(If you have Outlook or Outlook Express, you already have an interface like UBB.) Even though this current system permits a redumentary use of markup, the fact that such a tiny percentage of the users here even bother to use line breaks indicates to me that most don't want to be bothered adding all those extra characters manually. It just takes too much time, and since you can't preview your message or edit after posting, newbies are going to end up posting a lot of botched messages.
Like I said before, if you want to rationalize the limitations of this primitive system into a list of benefits, be my guest. Its too bad that so many in this thread prefers to chastise people for suggesting a better way, rather than taking the time to consider their suggestion by examining other software.
In case there is anyone lurking out there (Gonz?) that is actually interested in seeing what I am talking about go
