Not sure who leaked the two pages...but Jared was ecstatic and tweeted a thank you to the media for publishing them, since they showed Trump made a ton of money and paid about 24% in taxes. So they were a good reflection on the President... but Trump's reaction is contrary to the WH's attempt to inform everyone before the "leak". Seems he really doesn't want anyone to see his tax docs...
My view: the two pages made available are just summaries, like a cover page. We need all the accompanying documents that were filed along with those cover pages, to know how his accountant got to those numbers: sources of income, sources of debt, deductions and credits, etc. I have a suspicion, like victor, that these two pages were cherry-picked and leaked by Trump, or someone allied with Trump. Kinda like going through a miserable report card and highlighting the "A" in P.E. In other words...is our President beholden to anyone, is he evading paying his fair share/legal taxes?
Also, the return showed that if not for the Alternative Minimum Tax rule in place to ensure wealthy people who have a lot of credits and deductions pay a fair share of taxes, Trump would've only paid about $5 million, an effective rate of only 3%. The AMT was about $31 million...guess who's going to do away with the AMT in his tax reform proposal?
