Who knew there was such a thing? madspackler (Eric), that's who.
I was totally caught by surprise yesterday when a flat parcel landed on my front stoop. I wasn't expecting anything, haven't ordered anything that has yet to show up, and almost never see Fed Ex.
Inside was the most delicious Danish Kringle (totally new to me!) in the world. This big oval flew to my door from O H Danish Bakery in Racine, WI, and the only info on the card was "Happy Chanukah from Your Cbid Secret Santa. Enjoy"
Scotland Yard said they could not help identify the perp, so I went to the maps. Contacted the person I thought may have driven the bus who lives in that area of the world, but he said he was not asked for my coordinates. Reached out to a few others, and finally called the amazingly nice folks at the bakery.
I was given a name, but the surname was not one I knew from here...and despite my best attempts at conning the young lady (who thought this whole story was wonderful) into telling me what state the order originated from, all I could get her to give as a hint was "somewhere in the south".
Two hours later I accused madspackler of the deed. We have no history to speak of here, he's like a Founding Father and I'm a 12+ year repeat offender, but a few PM's later we both discovered previously unspoken mutual admiration and respect. I found out my impressions of this true gentleman were accurate, he is the real deal, as solid a person in reality as we see on these forums.
I let Eric know how the timing of his gesture increased the joy it gave me, and I also told him this would not stop me from publicly ripping him a new azzhole today!
So now that you know what he is capable of, watch your back(s). Like they say at the Post Office..."he was always so quiet"...HA!
Eric, such a kind gesture. Greatly appreciated.
And I am taking your threat of future violence seriously!
Shalom, and Happy Chanukah...starts at sundown on Sunday!
