Re: Highlander
he posted a few days ago on the pic board ... less bombastic in that post, but still a bit over the top ... from what he said in that post, he's in the middle east and apparently anticipates being involved in action there.
Re: his message
He seems to have a bag of mixed anger ... angry, perhaps, that HE's having to be among those carrying out an operation that not everyone thinks SHOULD be carried out ... angry, anticipating that upon his return to this country, he could be met with the sort of hostility that his uncle apparently met on retuning from 'Nam (another operation even fewere people thought should be carried out).
I think he's in a tough spot ... he sees, as many of us do, the necessity of dealing with an ugly situation in that corner of the world, he's on deck to be part of whatever is done to deal with it, but would appreciate a little more understanding and support from those of us that are watching from afar, enjoying our cigars, single-malt and scintillating conversation ...
I can fully sympathize with the position he's in, too ... my son served in the same spot with the same prospect of action against the same ****-disturber and while he expressed himself differently when he and I spoke over the phone on the eve of anticipated conflict, I could hear an unspoken turmoil within him that Highlander is speaking out loud ...
Have a safe tour of duty, Highlander ... I'll buy you a glass of highland single-malt and a cigar when you get back ...
