It's kind of generic. I tailor and tweak my resume to try to match and focus on what the job description is looking for. If I get a bite, I'll send them a more polished version of my resume. I have probably 5 versions of it that focus on different areas of strength and key words.
Now days resumes for most jobs are screened through AI to pick out key works and stuff.
If you get a contact that finds interest, that's step one.
Step two is a screening interview (usually a phone interview from HR or a recruiter) to weed out the chaff of potential candidates. If you pass that gate, then go onto step three - a follow up interview.
Step three is usually a phone interview, Zoom interview, or face to face interview from the hiring manager and any others on the hiring team. Then they reconvene and narrow it down to the top 3 or so candidates.
Step four is usually a face to face interview with other members of the team and a plant tour. In this step, you've crossed the first three hurdles. They have decided on the top two or three candidates and are looking for reasons on why they should hire/or not hire you vs the other candidates.
Step five, they selected you and make an offer. Now negotiation for compensation package: Salary, bonuses, insurance, 401(k), PTO and all that jazz.
I'll accept any competitive offer in a stable company that wants to grow and improve. I'm not one that likes to sit on my hands and just drift along with the tide.
