Big fan of these. Stupid quiet and tons of power.

I have 2 of the 3500w inverter generators. I mounted one on the tongue of my camper and it would run AC. Just couldn't do AC and microwave. Bought a second one for portable use and it gets used pretty often. My pole saw is 110v electric so I tow it behind my tractor out in the woods for tree trimming. I take it to job sites when I'm building things. It has about 100 hours on it. The camper one has over 500 hours.
But 3500w is not enough for a power outage at home. It can run the sump pump, fridges, router and TVs. But it can't run the well. That's the downside of the inverter type is they will just shut down if the load is too heavy even momentarily. A standard style may have overload protection but in my experience they're more tolerant of startup loads and only shut down if overloaded more than a few seconds. I'm planning to upgrade to the big inverter generator so it can run the well and I can throw it in the truck for mobile welding. But I may just do an open frame and save $1k because just using it at home I don't care about the noise.
