Amazing to see certain types scream about the weird spectrum dude but we’re silent about the collusion T had with the gov to sway an election….also while remembering them scream about RUSSIA! effecting an election by throwing 700k at FB troll farms? Laughably pathetic.
Z,
Not sure if you are aiming that directly, indirectly, or not at all to me. I'll go with A or B.
You invest/spend/waste more time following social media and politics than I do. For years I
was deep into politics, and did have a FB account and still do have a Twitter account- with about 20 posts over 10 years.
Four or five years ago, I stopped posting on FB. The closest thing I do to social media is posting here.
The division social media creates, all of it, has been tearing the fabric of America apart, and leading to nothing but polirization, 1/4 Truth news articles, and spin, all driven by Cash for Clicks. With Hate being the favorite dopomine hit, most love to go to the trough with "the enemy" and get their Hate on.
Where are we now as a country/society? (Ballpark #s below based only very little)
25% of Americans on the far left think the far right is the enemy of the state.

I look at friendships here compared to fifteen years ago. The five or six guys I liked the most, who use to get on Skype on a weekend and drink and laugh until we all cried- and then kept laughing- don't talk with each other any more. Mostly do to politics annd their perception of events in social media. I do regulary talk and text with one of them at least every few days. Another about a text a week, another once a year, another once every couple years, and the other never.
My life- our lives, are less fun and fulfilling. As a country, we are at all time highs for Deaths of Dispair (drugs, alcoholism, depression, suicide etc). Do we need to fracture ourselves further?
This is across the aboard. Agnostics, Atheists, Jews and- what hurts me the most- Christians. Or people who claim to be Christian. Followers of Jesus Christ judging and condeming others when they should be forgiving and trying to bring people together.
Yes, I fail every day. Multiple times a day. Hypocrite? yes. However, I am trying every day. How do I try?
-Start and end every day in prayer.
-Forgive whenever possible (can do that successfully about 80% of the time, which means a 20% failure late). Forgetting? Never Forget was mine and Pearl Harbor's motto. I'm a little better now and improving enough to the point of not being able to put a % on how much, I've remembered to forget. (RIP Steven Wright).
-Limit myself to one hour of news per day.
-Stretch, yoga, breathing exercises each day.
-Five miles walked each day for 280+ days.
-Sit quietly in nature (although I get cold easily).
The Hate I've eaten and spewed over the decades has (I believe) led to some of the medical issues I'm now going through.
Other than a 36 hours of madness on Mondays and Tuesdays, I look for ways to surround myself with people and things that bring contentment, calm, happiness and joy.
So what are you doing in the Politics section? Good point. What I like to see is respectable people sharing their thoughts and perspectives. Unlike the first 50+ years of my life, I don't surround myself with people who I share the same thought processes. If you talk with people you don't agree with, and ask questions instead of pass judgement, you can learn why they feel the way they do. Sometimes they take something new from what I offered. (shrug)
Do I still pass judgment? Yes- again, failure. Be assured, I am working on me.
If you'd like to talk, lmk. I've always liked you and still do. You have a bite and although youve lost your magical subtle sarcasm, I do find you entertaining.
Now, back to trying to walk the talk.
Peace, Brother.
And if you weren't talking to me....... never mind.
