I had a polinidal cyst when I was 18. They operated to remove it, chopping out a hunk of my a**, and then sewing be back up. They believed that it was started by an ingrown hair that erupted, then got infected during the "cleanup" process. The wound itself took about 3 years to heal, considering the general location, potential for unsanitary conditions, and issues of movement not allowing the wound to heal.
Given this, I make sure the body's emergency exit is as clean asa whistle. I find that a fold gives the best results, one-ply gives more control over the application of needed pressure for said process, and that a good soap-and-water cleanup is essential to preventing such conditions in the future.
I could say something cute like, "it's so clean you can eat off it", but then again...
