Well, I suppose the great analysts would say Gore came out stronger, but I say he was just spouting the stuff most people want to hear, in his well-rehearsed, Clintonesque way. I believe Bush was sincere, to-the-point, and more willing to clearly define the differences. He finally said, "Look, you've got this candidate that stands for more government control, and I believe in giving Americans more control themselves." Also, did you like how Gore avoided the integrity question? Bush answered that he's a man of his word; Gore somehow steered clear when he answered, and avoided the questions Bush raised concerning his integrity. Sounded like Clinton all over again. Thoughts?

If Gore sighed loudly one more time, I was going to go through the tv and end his breathing with my hands. That lying sack of excriment could not have sounded more pompous if he tried. GW stumbled a few times, but he answered the general questions. Al Whore simply gave rehearsed rhetoric with cutsie key phrases to stir up the vote of the elderly. Could be effective if GW doesn't hone his skills more and look less nervous at times. Now excuse me whilst I puke from ingesting all of Gores crap.

The sighing really got on my nerves, too. I wish just once GW would've breathed really loud into the microphone and said, "Oh, excuse me, just had to get him back." GW was almost TOO polite, especially to Lehrer. Gore will get the nod for dominating the debate largely because he talked over Lehrer quite a few times and captured most of the talk time, often without even addressing the issue in question.

I could not get over Gore's whining about being attacked, that was no attack Bush was simply answering
a question with an honest answer.Something Gore knows
nothing about.

I think GW did ok... Aspecially when Gore went on about I went to SE Asia, I served on the arms committy for Reagan and Your Dad!! and Bill and I did this with the defence and Military ... Bush Simply Said and where is it now?? Hell we could not hold our own if two Major contingancies were to get fired up today.. That would defenantly bring in a Draft!!! I do not want to see this happen to one of my kids!! and I'm sure you all wouldn't want to see it happen to your's!!! actually the Reason Gore was Breathing so heavy was because he was Constipated!!! with his Own BS..............................................

Question: What exactly did GW say to prompt Gore's whine about being "attacked"? I did not see all of the debate and I must have missed it. Thanks.

the moderator asked Bush what the character differences are between him and Gore. he just said something benign about how there were some ethical concerns about Gore including the buddhist fundraising scandal , things that you need not worry about with him. if that is an attack how will he handle something real?

Thanks stack. I missed just enough of the debate to remain curious for the next one (NOT tonights). Sounds like the moderator leans towards the left. That question could ONLY be answered by some type of comment which could be misconstrued as an "attack". Also in the debate the moderator asked GW "If you get elected and the economy goes sour, what would you do" or something like that. Even though the question said "If" and not "when", it is intentionally leading the listener to assume that it will go sour. I believe lawyers call this "leading the witness". I believe it was the only question with the intro of "if you get elected", when in fact ALL questions of substance need to assume that. This falls under the category of "things that make you go 'hmmmm'"....

Who would vote for Gore anyway. unless you were part of the welfare state either as a recipient or social worker, an environmental nut, a bureaucrat, trial lawyer or some actor/ artsy type? Just about anybody else would have to be insane.Hate to sound like a cynic but your average person is such a **** that they couldn't give you 3 solid reasons why they would vote Gore ,they just know he makes them all feel warm and fuzzy for some reason. what a jerk.
