Where would we be as a species if Sir Isaac Newton never had that fateful apple fall on his head, or if Benjamin Franklin decided, “No, I don’t feel like experimenting with my metal key and kite in this lightning storm tonight.” I for one certainly couldn’t even imagine, and that’s why I am delighted experiments continue to pay off, this time in the form of a cigar, Latitude Zero Experimental Blend. As with any discovery it takes weeks, months, even years of laborious trial and error and even then sometimes they yield no results, luckily this is not one of those cases. And with tobaccos coming from the revered Oliva Tobacco Company’s fertile farms, this puppy is looking like a big fish in a small pond.
Experimental Blend is an utter success, quite possibly surpassing the original Latitude Zero core line, and if you have tried that masterpiece you know that that is no easy task. Graced with a Cameroon wrapper from 2009 hailing from the misty mountains of Ecuador, Experimental Blend sure is easy on the eyes. A rare Nicaraguan Criollo ’98 binder from the Oliva’s La Joya farm envelopes Nicaraguan Criollo ’98 long-fillers, all combined they assist this gem on its destined path to greatness. Medium-bodied and brimming with nuances of cedar, sweet-spice, and oak, Latitude Zero Experimental Blend is one prize you won’t want to let slip through the cracks.
