This is the letter to OSU from the ADF, which sheds a bit of additional, albeit propagandist, perspective.

It looks as if the librarian suggested a conservative book, and what criticised by the commitee..........THEN, as sort of a "screw you, you think THAT was offensive......", he suggested the other books, including the one with anti-gay rhetoric.

I agree with Victor, this should not be a sexual harrassment issue; this is a liberal faction of the university that are too much of a bunch of pussies to proceed to deal with this as a very stupid lapse of good judgement by the librarian.....so they are "playing" the sexual harrassment card instead. I they are truly offended by the material suggested, than a wholesale scourge of the library would be in order to weed out any books with offensive sexual material. You could call upon the campus Nazi party to help out with that.

To paint this man as a sexual harrasser/aggressor is inappropriate.....to question his fitness as a reference librarian is more appropriate; it looks like we have a frustrated tempermental man here.

I lost 10 cigars (one Anejo) to two bets and 6 on a pool. I never bet money on sports, only Blackjack. I have some control on the outcome of Blackjack, not so with sports or any other game.

We do have something in common. LOL
I am the same way. Though I prefer poker to blackjack, especially 5 card stud. But the resturant is slow in feburary, and I wouldn't have lost money on the bet. I don't need the dishwasher, in feburary, I keep him on the payroll so I don't lose him. He is a good hand. I would have just picked up the slack myself. So I was betting my own labor, against his.

When did I quote Al Franken? I've NEVER read an Al Franken book. I don't even know who he is, but I sure do see his name on this board a lot. I prefer to quote Abby Hoffman.

Maybe its possible you didn't read who the author of the quote was, but it was Franken. It was taken from his "Lies" book. See, I actually DO read the other side! I didn't pay for the garbage though.

As for quoting Ann Coulter, you can't say whats in her books yet you claim to have read one. You can't give a review in your own words. You copy and paste what others say, liberals of course.

HB, Franken is in a class all by himself.

4) Google me. You'll get: My resume, a picture (if you look carefully), various business school and scientific references to me. Plenty to prove my existence.

Ok, so as a straight guy if I hear a gay librarian talking about how straights are ruining this country and if there were more gay politicians the world would be a better place and if said gay librarian recommends reading some gay friendly literature, can I sue him for sexual harrasment?

1) You have to work with him.
2) It isn't "gay friendly" literature, but actually "anti-straight" literature.

Ive said it before, sexual harassment laws are questionable at best. I think if those above two statements (coupled with yours) were true, then yes, you would have about as much of a case as the professors.

Whether they have a legal case or not, I personally believe ALL censorship is wrong. These so-called hate laws include some very worrisome restrictions on what can be published or read. We don't want to end up like Canada and Germany where they imprison people for unpopular thoughts.

I gotta agree with ya allbidness. Hatecrime laws are overused. As are sexual harrassment laws.
I think the US has gotten too PC. My only issue, was how the arguement was portrayed in a one sided way. Since now I get a more balenced view, I think that there were some emails which may have escalated, into some "Hate Talk". I still think this is the wrong way to handle the situation. I read the foxnews story, and as usual they have spun the issue to be about the books, in a one sided way, as usual, and don't even bring up the emails, except to say that it was the form of communication, used by the commitee. Oh well.
I think this was handled improperly on both sides of the issue.

Who exactly are you talking to? You say "doomi..YOU" but then you say you told "HIM" right away. Are you talking to ME, or are you talking to HIM?

I will say this again...I have NEVER read anything by Al Franken, and I have NEVER quoted him. I don't even know who the guy is.

It's funny to me.
I posted that Ann Coulter and Al Franken, were cut from the same cloth, just were coming from opposite ends of the spectrum, and suddenly adroomie is accused of quoting Al Franken??? I have checked the thread in question, and have found no Al Franken quote???????????

Jeez Drathaar, you're really getting boring with this. What if Adroomi doesn't want to force CBid into a situation where they are "reporting" on everyone. This is like keeping a list of books people are checking out.

I felt that this would put Cbid in a difficult situation, and rectified it by finding another way to prove my existence. If you list the other individuals who you think are adroomi, then perhaps they will do the same. You will be satisfied and CBid will not need to start nannying us.
