FYI.

So.
If it appears it might emerge and can become profitable it should be reorganized.

So?

Unlimited do overs?

Market forces compelled them to shut down not unions. The union members were dumb with this but they WERE going to shut down at some point anyways. 342 million in losses last year. Reorganized debt doesn't change their cost of doing business.

Cost of Twinkies going up faster than the stock market. Catch the new boom & craze on flea-bay.

And after other companies buy the recipes/brands, they'll cost twice as much. Produced probably oversees for half the costs, but still cost twice as much. Bet those Bakers Union folks won't be working the line.

I was offered a regional safety job for Hostess a few years ago, I think right after their first bankruptcy. I toured one plant. I spent a day talking with employees there. I heard the rah rah stuff from management and how their problems were all behind them. Something didn't feel right about the place.

I went out on the web and found the forums where the workers for Hostess hang out. Bunch of bitter crybabies. Always focused on what someone else has and how "wrong" that is. Union guys bitching about management, then bitching about the union, then bitching about each other. One night of pouring through their threads was enough to see what a dark, sad place it was (and apparently still is). How the hell can something as happy as a Twinkie be made by such poisoned personalities?

I got a job offer package in writing the following week. Pay increase, company car, bonus program, benefits. I politely refused. Still glad I did.

Thanks for the interesting, firsthand insights, Wolf. There's often much more than meets the eye besides the claptrap written for public consumption.

As a subcontractor/vendor (not applicant), I've had several similar moments with close client friendships- folks working for the wastefully rigid USPS and several other beleaguered corporations...

Two, actually. Delivery drivers on one. Bakers on another.

And yes, I'm sure your union - whatever that is - has one or more.

Try checking CigarBid.com's politics forum. I'm sure you can hear some union crying there on occasion.Beer

Twinkies were perfection back in the day. I'm sure something to do with getting rid of transfats or whatever killed the flavor.

The mini blueberry muffins were really good when they came right out of the bakery's oven. Not so much after sitting on the gas station's shelf for 2 months.

It doesn't take many poisoned personalities to keep an entire department in constant discord. Our field service department was like that until one or two key sh*t stirrers retired. It made a heck of a difference in the level of complaining and controversy. In fact the place got so mellow, they actually voted the union out a few years later.

Looks like Mexico’s Grupo Bimbo, the world's largest bread-baking firm, could be on the short list for acquiring some of the Texas-based Hostess’ foodstuffs, according to Forbes. Grupo Bimbo already owns parts of Sara Lee, Entenmann’s and Thomas English Muffins.

American illegals may crossing the river & headed back south for Grupo Bimbo soon. BWAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHA!

I was thanking DMV. But thank you too.

I'm busy reaping the rewards of being being union before they dissolve to right to work states.

Then, maybe a janitor!

Hostess Brands Inc, its lenders and the unions representing its striking workers, agreed to start mediation hearings on Tuesday at the urging of a U.S. bankruptcy court judge.

A hearing on Monday during which the bankrupt maker of Twinkies snack cakes and Wonder Bread was set to ask for permission to liquidate was quickly adjourned until Wednesday after the judge urged the parties to mediate in private.

The mediation will begin on Tuesday.
