What cigar have you got that has been a total disappointment?

Most recent big let down was Pinolero. Mostly because the dude in the shpo was a spinmaster that would put CI to shame. I thought this stick was going to blow me (away). In the end it was a pretty typical AJF...not bad, but one's enough.

God of Fire, the Don Carlos or Carlito.

The Serie B however, is a winner.

Latelier 56.

Very exited to try, 15 relights and Swiss cheesed it with a poker. To no avail. Ill retry because it was plugged, but was a sad 45 minutes of trying.

I have noticed a trend in cigars I have smoked. You definitely get what you paid for.

I only really smoke cheap cigars so I have very minimal expectations of any new cigar I smoke... it's very rare for me to be completely disappointed, but having said that,

1. Carlos Torano Dominico - terrible, terrible, terrible tasting cigar
2. Gurkha Vulcan - 1/2 as bad as the dominico but still bad
3. 5V Gold Maduro - I've smoked a couple dozen of these in the last year hoping, wishing, praying one of them would burn relatively close to even. Not a chance.

I'd have to say LP Ratzilla. Biggest let down since I started smoking. I love DE. And one of their best cigars is the dirty rat so I thought it was going to be simular. It was more simular to a dirty azz.
Wasn't just a bad LP but a terrible cigar period. Damn things going for insane prices and sucked! Give me an undercrown over that any day of the week.

You really want to go there? Are you sure? Just remember, you brought this topic up.

Several years ago I discovered a very nice early morning smoke. LPH Morado. Premium smoke with a premium price, that once in a blue moon, I could steel from another auction for $2 - $3 a stick. Sadly, it used a rare wrapper leaf that was in limited supply and production ceased. I bought at closeout from another vendor, what I thought to be the last 2 boxes in existence.

Fast forward 1 year, and to my shock, this cigar shows up here. At first I was as excited as could be, but something wasn’t right. Instead of a premium, this cigar was value priced. The divided tray box was missing, as was the cedar wrap. I also noticed that the size listed didn’t seem to match what I had in stock. I was also concerned that since the wrapper leaf was in limited supply, how did all these boxes all of a sudden appear?

I voiced these concerns to the powers that be, and was assured that this was indeed my beloved Morado. The packaging had been streamlined to bring down the price. Back then I was naive and trusting, thus bought into that line of horse crap. Stupid me. Instead of my beloved Morado, I ended up with horrid dog rockets with faux Morado bands. At least I learned who I can and can not trust.

Oh, and so you don’t think I’m just picking on you:

GOF Carlito and MF 2011 Limited. Two of the most overpriced “meh” cigars ever made.

La Riqueza.....I am not a cigarette smoker but I sure felt like it when I smoked this one. I kept trying to get past the 1st third of the cigar and I just couldn't do it. It was wicked bad!!!

LFD Tubo No. 200.

Beautiful construction and prelight aroma, but not much flavor.

Me too. Yup a little young FOTT, but a year plus in the cooler and much better and I'm figuring another year and they're golden... or at least silver.

5V Cask Strength I just smoked this weekend. Would have thought recovering from illness was affecting taste buds, but everything else tasted "right" by then. Bitter, acidic.

@Dpn The BP has become a top ten cigar for me lately I absolutely love it... Not very complex but the flavors are out of this world! 2006-2009 by the way is what I'm talking about.

Now Onto my most disappointed stogie lately I'd have to Agree GOF was mediocre at best, also I'd have to say the mummy is a cigar that I wouldn't spend $5 a stick on just seems rushed and flavors are Meh...

The list could go on but I'll leave it at that for now. :)

DE/Lliga UnderCrown............this was suppose to be a replacement (pronounced appease the LP9 smokers) for the LP9 because of crop damage to the LP9 wrapper. They totally missed on this stick imo but were able to hype it up and sell the crap outta them. If enough people buy a mediocre stick, there is surely someone that will think it's great and it's off and running. Now smokers focus on getting the Undercrown vs not being able to get the 9.

JMO/YMMV I bought a box of them and am letting them sit in hopes they will some day go from being a frog to a prince {of a smoke].

Undercrown is another one! I do like the Viva and the Toro "Sometimes" other times it's seems they are really inconstant! Once they are smoking good they are great but are still nothing comparable to a #9 IMO.

All the red dot Cohibas that I've tried so far have had a nice even burn, great aroma, good taste, but a truly lousy draw.

For me, it is not really about a certain stick as it is the way ceegars are brought to market. Some manufactures will hurry to get stuff rolled and in the consumer hands and sidestep quality control. I have always felt that supply and demand for "High End Stuff" is just hype and leaves little or no room for consistency. Hence the DE Undercrown. As noted in a previous post, this cigar is a letdown and seems to have pushed to market to appease the LP followers. (I must say, I really enjoy the T52's).... As most of the new line from JD, these just do not quit get my attention because of over hype, over price, and limited supply.

You asked, I am giving you my 0.2cents.

I will also say that there are good solid, quality people in the cigar industry. JD is one of them. I know that with this industry there are so many variables in the growing and marketing of cigars and there are so many new players have emerged in this market in the past few years, I feel that some organizations lose sight of their perspective and push too many products to market to keep up with demand and then quality suffers.

I hope I do not get too much of a bashing by my BOTL of this post.

Don't agree with the prior statements on the LP Undercrowns. All the ones (and that's a lot) I've smoked have been well constructed, flavorful, and burned fabulously. No they're not the No.9s and were not marketed to have identical tastes as the No.9s nor are they priced in the same range as the No.9s. I recall them being made with "some'' of the same tobaccos, but from different vintages, and an entirely different wrapper. Now I know they aren't as good as the No.9s, but not at all a bad smoke imvho and with some age, they'll probably be even better.

I've gotten them at a very reasonable price. Was informed by a fellow C-bidder about another vendor that sells boxes of robbies for @ $99.00. That's less than $4.00 a smoke.

As far as a huge let down ? I'd have to agree with the others here but say ''any'' GOF.

And Welcome Jenwhip

^I agree with you Mike on the Undercrowns. I have 3 boxes of Grand Toros and have smoked through a box. Didn't have a bad one yet. Not a bad $3 stick, but I can see the let down if folks where spending $6 to $8 like most of the auctions here.

Thanks Joel. Guess he's talking about the OR Morado, in which case, I totally agree. Sure glad I grabbed 4 more boxes when CI put the real ones up on special.

King, try to smoke a faux one, and you'll see what I'm so upset about.
