I know you think you know what you're talking about but in this case you are totally wrong. As a matter of fact where mule deer and whitetail share the same range the WT is usually the larger of the two.If you have not hunted the panhandle you're missing out.We have 200 lb'rs on the hoof right here where I live 100 miles south of the panhandle. My largest in my home county field dressed 160.250's up there may be as big as they get but yes they exist. My field dressed WT either 2 or 3 years ago,off the same panhandle farm, weighed 183 after a day of hanging. You do the math.

Here ya go Wheel

http://www.saltforkhunt.com/information/body_information.html

This property is about 15 miles south of where I hunt.It is much more densely populated with WT's than my little farm area to the north.Their weight ratio is 110-120% of average Texas WT'sand as you approach the Wheeler County line, which my property practically sits on,the weight ratio is 120-130% of average Texas WT's.According to the info listed by Salt Fork their AVERAGE deer weight is 210 lbs.According to John, whom I know personally, their live weights range from 180-240+.........and remember my area is in an up to 10% higher weight ratio.....The highest in the state actually.

over the last few years I've had Forty Creek Barrel Select Whiskey a few times, pretty much an inoffensive cheap filler for the bar stock. It is Canadian, it is inexpensive, it is sort of light, but it is born of an innovative process. A vintner from Ontario decided to shake up Canadian Whiskety, and Barrell Select is admittedly his entry level product but the only one I have ever seen...until today.

Came home with a bottle of 86 proof Copper Pot Reserve, website states it is basically the original "amped up". It reminds me a little of a thicker Glenmorangie Original 10 yr with a whisp of corn added...I say a little. Now I'm not saying run out and grab a bottle, but for $25 I took a shot and am having it neat right now and I like it.

It is making me very curious about the other releases that I have never been able to find. Any way, interesting read about the process this wine maker created basically blending single malts into blends in Canada.

Hey, it's something different.

I've avoided WP after discovering it is Distilled in Canada and just bottled in the USA.I've had canadian rye and like their whisky I found it thin and uneventful.WP may be the exception but for the coin it commands it better be good.

My sister gifted me a bottle of Waitsburg Bourbon Whiskey, from OOLA Distillery, Seattle WA. http://ooladistillery.com/home I'm skeptical of micro-distillery whiskey's with no age labeling, but this stuff was way better than I had any expectations of. Smooth and comparable to some more aged Bourbons, about $39.

Distiller's Tasting Notes

This medium to full bodied bourbon presents a classic profile of vanilla, caramel and cherry on the nose - rich and compelling. Sweet, smooth corn combined with brown sugar/maple syrup and oak is balanced with a notable spice contributed by the higher than normal rye content. The finish is beautifully long with notes of buttery oak, toffee, and again the cherries make an appearance.

sounds great.
Another west coast bourbon that gets great reviews is from St George, I'm thinking it's Breaking and Entering but not positive. IIRC, they buy and then blend, and it is suppose to be pricey but worth it.

I was gifted a set of samplers of this from Madspackler. I cannot get it in my area and had originally found a bottle of it on the top of a mountain near Riverside California. My wife and I had just sumited the mountain and we were hanging our feet over the side and as I looked down a cliff on a side we had not climbed I though I saw something. I repelled down to a ledge and there was the bottle with about 2 swigs left and a note that said it was a reward for whomever climbed that face. I liked it so I put the word out that year. It has been about 6 years and I had mentioned it a few weeks back and madspackler saw the story and sent me a sampler. It had the doublewood 12 year, doublewood 17 year and caribbean cask. I like the 12 year doublewood personally.

I will definately have a full sized bottle mailed to me in the future. Herfing

Well, my baby, she don't want me around
She said she's tired of watchin' me fall down
She wants a good life, An' all the best
But I like that bottle better than the rest

And she said:
"I think that you're headed for a whole lot of trouble,"
"Well, I think that you're headed for a whole lot of trouble"
"Well, I think that you're headed for a whole lot of trouble"
"If you take your whiskey"

Ow!

Well, that liquor in the night time leaves strange memories
Seems a lifetime, since yesterday
Come the daybreak, and come tomorrow
That woman's waited up all night for me again

Oh! She said:
"Well, I think that you're headed for a whole lotta trouble." Yeah!
"I think that you're headed for a whole lotta trouble." Oh, yeah!
"Yeah ya know that you're headed for a lotta trouble"
"If you take your whiskey home"

Some goes to women, ooh, some goes to Jesus
That I'm absolutely certain both's all right
Yeah, but it takes me at least halfway to the label
'Fore I can even make it through the night

Uh well, I think that you're headed for a whole lotta trouble
Yeah yeah, I think that you're headed for a whole lotta trouble
Baby, yeah, I think that you're headed for some trouble
If you take your whiskey home

I went looking around for this St. George Breaking and Entering. Apparently they stopped bottling it for the time being in Sep 2014. The website shows no St. George stuff is distributed to Bloomington. Going to try some places in indy and see if I can find a bottle.

me too, Elmer from Namadio (apparently there will be part deux but we'll let Nick tell that story)...or maybe it was the bottle from Shaun that arrived on the same day with some of the best smokes anyone has ever been sent.

After many moons without my beloved Elmer, I now own twins!

Thanks Nick and Shaun, weather permitting you will both be thanked properly this week, as promised.
