I can't afford expensive whiskey but, ANY vodka, Zing Zang, and Hydrocodone pair nicely and they're good for back pain as well.

Sail #4

But full disclosure, I bought the bottle as a gift for my classmate's Surprise 60th Birthday party a couple months ago and he kept it sealed until our other classmate came into town to celebrate his 60th. So when we got together on Sunday, that's when we all tried it.

Was very smooth, I enjoyed it but am not a very good reviewer of stuff like this (...and cigars...) so can't tell you that it was a bit carmelly with a hint of oak or any other hyperbolic descriptions. I liked it, didn't burn going down and had at least one more shot afterwards (...probably 2 but things got a little fuzzy after a while...). However, I actually liked the Reserve a little better...and considering the price difference, would definitely get that over the Ocean.

The Ocean's "story" for this bottle / batch - where the ship docked, how many times it crossed the Equator, etc. was cool and I'm sure for the person(s) that can afford something like this, this is a fine specimen to have in their collection. But, for me, it was a special occasion purchase for a good friend and not something I would chase. Of course, YMMV.

Can't find any more Elmer T here. So I'm, finishing my last bottle of St. Remy XO and just noticed that's the brand the expensive Gurks are infused with.

So good and we hardly ever have here. By far my favorite whiskey out of Buffalo trace.

I grabbed a glass at a bar TDY a few months back. I think it was voyage #3 but may have been #4 can't remember. I thought it tasted like alcohol and salt. I also suck at reviewing things. But I definitely remember smelling bourbon and tasting salt. 1/4 people I was with said they enjoyed it very much.

I didn't like. Was hoping maybe I just had a bad batch or something. Who knows

I didn't recall that taste at all and it was the very first drink we had that day so I *think* I would have remembered that. Iffin' I get a chance to try it again, I'll be on the lookout for that.

So I've seen it all over the place for 200$ but I found one for 165$ somewhere. Still a bit expensive but its very unique compared to anything else i've had so far (very few finished bourbons but alot of finshed scotches). Its not as sherry heavy as like The Macallan 18. Its a very subtle influence. But the whiskey is just so damn smooth especially for 100 proof. Its almost like a desert whiskey with the extra fruit flavors that I presume come from the wine casks.

Remind me in the future and I'll send you a sample sometime!! I've been getting into sample trading on reddit of late and bought a ton of 2 oz little bottles!

Stone, Imperial Russian Stout.

Breaks my heart that this went from every day to seasonal. 1) because I can only get it for a few months 2) because they charge $8 a f'n bottle for it. d'oh!

Beer

Oooops... this is the whiskey thread. Sorry.

Namadio don't bother, I have a local whiskey bar that has it I just don't like dealing with trendy yuppies. But it sounds worth it, thanks for the review.

inherited a bunch of quarts of Old Forester Bottled in Bond Bourbon. Tonight's bottle says made Fall 1952, bottled Spring 1958!
Had to filter it due to the cork disintegrating when attempting to open it. With one small ice cube, fantastic.

I wrote to the Brown-Forman Distillery when I didn't see mention of it on their website, but never heard back. Might have to kill myself if it's worth a couple grand a bottle! Already polished off one bottled in 1960.

Any bourbon historians out there?

Under $20, i was looking at this one online because I can't get it here and I think it was in the low $30s where I found it. Guess I just have to ask the local if they can get it in.

I've found it in Texas for as low as $17.99, which it's an incredible bargain.
