So one source say 216 feet. One source says 16 inches, one source says 63 meters. Who to believe!?

Besides, 5000 years is a long time away. We would have to not nuke everything or get invaded by aliens to get that far.

Two sources estimate close to 200ft, and one Hockeydad says "16 inches"... Wow... there's just no way whatsoever to know the answer... RollEyes

Anyway, the math could be done pretty easily. We have volume estimates on the antarctic ice, greenland ice. We have area of the ocean. That's pretty easy. The only tricky part is how the area changes as the sea level rises, as more area becomes ocean. That can be modeled pretty easily. As the surface area is already close to 2/3 water, it likely won't have too much impact on the nubmers.

The calculations I've seen have been closer to the 200ft mark.

As for the 5000 years... yeah, who really cares about anything that far out. I'm simply trying to point out that the phrase "never gonna happen" is blatantly wrong 98.2% of the time.

I've got many sources that say 16 inches of ocean rise.

Another factor not even considered is the extra water weight displacing the crust and causing the continents to rise at an accelerated rate. This could result in a sea level drop at least in certain regional cases.

Remember HD, we're talking about the navel gazing concept of "total glacier melt". Your "sources" may be calculating something different. Seeing as we've gotten a 7" rise in about 100 years, it's pretty unlikely that a full dump of all remaining ice into the oceans is only going to give us another 16". That would imply that close to 1/4 of the glaciers have already been melted.

As for extra water weight displacing the crust... you're suggesting we'll see an increase in ocean depth resulting in a raising of land continents in other areas... an interesting proposition. Certainly destructive, but interesting.

We have not had a seven inch rise. My sources say we have had a two inch rise as we emerge from the last Ice Age

Well, you personally may have had a 2" rise, but a 7" rise is pretty much what the rest of the world has.

(see what I did there?)

Like Asia could have a seven inch rise...

Nope. Gotta throw the BS flag.

It is all scare tactics to generate revenue and profit. Trillions to stop a few inches. It is the new military industrial complex.

I'm throwing a BS flag on that. If you truly believed it was the new military industrial complex, you'd have invested heavily in it by now.

Guam has tipped over twice. That is why it looks normal.

The inept handling of Benghazi is just too embarrassing.

There was no attack. The flames were caused by a localized global warming incident.
