Damned if I didn't have a 4 pack of that in-hand today and put it back. I went with a bottle of boulevard 30th Anniversary instead. I'll grab it next trip.

LOL. I just got done scrambling through the threads to see if that meant what I thought. BigGrin

7094 - Boulevard 30th Anniversary Ale (12.5%) bomber.

"This is a barrel aged blend of the following;

Imperial Stout in rye whiskey finished port casks
Imperial Stout in bourbon barrels
Belgian-Style dark ale in ruby and tawny port casks
Belgian-Style dark ale in bourbon casks
Belgian-Style dark ale in California sherry casks
Double mashed imperial stout in bourbon barrels
Imperial stout in spanish sherry puncheons
Imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels followed by ruby/tawny port casks."

Wow! Right? When I saw all that packaging sleeve (Think E.H. Taylor) I thought holy moly! Then my brain thought "but won't all that be lost?" Well, let's find out.

Yeah, it was. I popped the cork (champagne style cork and wire) with my neighbor last night.

It drinks like a $18 dollar imperial barrel aged porter essentially. An ale mouthfeel and some stout overtones. It's good, but not over the top good. It's an interesting take on the Boulevard beers, but there are much better barrel aged offerings out there. I'll not be laying in a stock pile of it. I may get one to toss in the cellar just to see what happens, or a couple if I find some on-sale maybe.

Although I will admit I've never tried aging a beer on cork before. I guess it works for wine but...........................
