Weatherman says rain on Saturday afternoon. ram27bat

Weather gods smiled upon us on Saturday. The forecasted rain turned out to be a light sprinkle that lasted about 2 minutes . (just enough to make us move the tables under the pop-up canopy)

Sixteen guests showed up.
All in all, a good time was had by everyone.

Notable absentees:
dpnewell . . . migraine
hnixon . . . prior commitment with his Dad
surfish . . . had to work
f16devils . . . had previous plans with his wife
Frankie Tri-pod . . . Well, Boston IS a 7 hour drive to Ridley Park, so he is excused.
( He did get to talk to myself, mjtoal, and shaun341, on the phone, though.)

I have not, but they’re on my radar now....

It is located on east side of interstate. At first glance it looks like gas station/ store when in fact it is a bar bq joint/gas station/store.

Was some what surprised to see them doing baby backs rather than spare ribs or St Louis style. And of course they have pulled pork and 8 - 10 sides that change daily.

I took a rack and a half home plus two of their sides. Had them leave the racks in half racks and when home I sliced into individual bones, wrapped in foil and into oven on 325 for 30-35 minutes. Ribs and sides were all excellent.

Only down side is that they close at 3 P.M. each day.

Crazy weekend at Gridlife again. Huge muddy mess.

Winding down. Packing up campsite. Hopefully I don't get stuck in the mud too. I parked on a high spot, but gotta go through low spot to get out.

There's daisy chains of tow trucks pulling people out.

Slow day at work. I think it's due to the rain. I have seen maybe to customers since 10.

Finally home. Wife's still mad at me, but that's a given. Gridlife to her is like me having a weekend with an ex girlfriend. I don't race anymore (she hated that) but I still like to work/hang at the track. Made it even worse this year, that ex girlfriend, Gutty, (Team car from 06-09 and HPDE buddy car from 10-15) is living in my house again and she thought I'd gotten rid of her in 2009. She won't talk to me. Wouldn't even eat dinner tonight.

Took 3 hours 20 minutes to get home. 120 miles. Did need to stop at a state park and dump the crapper though. Too muddy at the trackside dump station to get in there with my 2wd pickup so had to pay entry to the Dunes to dump the dumps.

Will try and get 18 in this morning.

Typical summer gulf coast weather pattern, hot, humid and thunder storms.

Be safe.

Be glad you skipped today's trip, Al. Weather was nice and sunny, water temperature was 66-69 degrees, and we were marking fish all over... but the bastids stayed deep and the only 2 bites we had all day were half hearted and didn't get hooked.

Came home wit nuttin'... and they was there, man!!

Can't complain, though. I had 2 cigars and 2 beers, and it beat sitting at home.

glad you left the fish for our next trip, Bro!

Tough week-end, helping my daughter and SIL clear stuff out of their house and move it into our house. They had an open house yesterday afternoon. Hope they sell their house soon... one serious offer made that they're mulling over...

our place looks like a storage container....they're gonna buy the house next door...hopefully the process will be done in a month or two...

My son: Daddy, are you thinking about getting a baslalisk lizard?

Me: not really, no... i don't really like lizards...

My son: no, they're really cool... they run on water...

Me: well remember how we were talking about how it wasn't really nice to keep tigers in cages because they're used to having a whole lot of space to run around in? It would be the same thing for the lizard...

My son: no daddy, i was talking about keeping it in the fish pond...

Me: I'm pretty sure it would run away...

My son: no, i was talking about making a big, big, big cage outside...

Me: well that still wouldn't be fair to the lizard because he's used to having a lot of space to run around and be with all his friends and he'd be lonely...

My son: no daddy, i was taking about getting 2 or 3 of them...

Me: talk to your mom when she gets home...

Hey, strangers! Work has been killer since we got the new systems in place. We went from a single system to do all of our operations, to three. It is horrendous. The stress is literally making me sick. NOT good times.

I need a cigar!

Bike ride first thing and later off to the doctor for nerve ablation to neck. Maybe bobble-headed for a day or so.

Be safe.

I have a cat, so the lizard population in her AOR is small.
