Dinner smelling good!! Wifey says I got to wait for it to rest, 10 long minutes of smelling the steak roast thing. Got me a NICE bottle Vin Noir wine all to myself since wifey doesn't drink red wine.

Add to the ever-increasing list of things that are wrong with my new truck but the dealer says are within spec....

Went to reverse out of the garage and the column shifter lever fell to the floor.

I took the plastics off the steering column and there was a cast aluminum piece that held it, it broke in two.

Now I have a vice grip shifter in my 3 year old truck that burns coolant. But it's all within spec. The coolant smell is normal. Oh, the 4wd shift in progress light when not actually shifting to 4wd.. that's apparently normal too, just system diagnostics. When I try to shift to 4wd, and it says it cannot complete 4wd shift, well, that's normal too. Can't wait for them to tell me the column shifter falling to the floor is normal as well.

Really loving my life right now. I knew better than to buy a FCA product, but the nicer interiors at lower trim levels drew me in. Plus it was available at a time no HD trucks were available. It ticked all my boxes on paper. But in real life it's a giant 8klb pile of steaming dog chit. Now it's evident why the previous owner traded in a 50k mile truck. Can't shift into 4wd and burns coolant. For a 3 year old vehicle, I'd ditch it too. But my dumbass bought the ****.

Happy New Year gents!

Starting off the new year the same way I start every day. Wife and I have a new 6 mile hike planned in the mountain preserve early this morning. Going to be a sunny 41/64. Rest of the day looks like a fine habano and football games.

I was blabbing with the fellas on the vherf yesterday evening, wife was cooking, nobody was listening to the dog whine... and he pooped by the downstairs bathroom. d'oh! Our fault... no harm no foul, picked up easy and then I put the steam mop to the area.

Let him pee last night before bed around 9:40. Woke up at 2:30 and figured I'd let him go and we both went back to bed. 5:30 rolls around and I wake up to him whining. He's waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs... brutha had to poop.

Looks like crate training is over. Last 3 nights he has slept outside the crate. Only accident was in the evening and that was our bad.

I don't want to deal with the dealership and their games, so I just ordered the parts to fix the shifter myself. At least I know it'll be done right.

Warranty is useless. Just gotta do everything myself.

Sorry you're going through crap with the truck, Danm. I'm on my second. Had issues with the EGR on the ecodiesel for which FCA didn't have a permanent fix. As you know I have the Hemi now and although it only has 7500 miles on it, no issues so far.

Hopefully you get it all straightened out. Seems like it was the truck that fit your needs best. *fingers crossed for you*

thanks for the wake-up call, Frank...I needed the buck-up...

I remember thinking that same thought while on my walk a couple nights ago...I was walking along the same streets as I did on election night 2016, thinking how different that walk will be in three weeks

I knew I should've bought a Ford, but the Ram hit all the check boxes in paper. But I bought a POS. Hopefully once I get done working on it myself it'll be the truck I wanted. Biggest issue for me is the coolant consumption, which dealer says is spec/no issue. I suspect there's a major issue they're trying to avoid and I'm gonna be in the middle of Kansas with a 10klb trailer when it pops off.

When I trade it in im going diesel. Or going not as truck at all. Depends on if I buy a new camper or give up on that. Diesel dont change the base structure tho.

Happy Saturday fellas

I swore that I'd never buy a GM product again after my experience with a 2001 Silverado that I bought new. I swear the thing was put together the Monday after Superbowl Sunday. Spent many hours on the phone with the dealer, visits at the dealer, on the phone with the main GM customer service crap office.

I was told similar things like your "that's normal" BS that you're getting. It would take me a rfenst "wall of words" type of post to go explain all the chit I went through on that piece of crap. At about 75k mi I finally pulled the plug and took a loss on it when I traded it in for a Hyundai Sonata commuter car.

I've held true to my promise. Haven't purchased any vehicle new or used that was made by GM.
