Going to have to go that route more often. When I do, I block them for a week- tedious one-trick ponies. Then try to stomach them again in the hope of them being more than one dimensional. When I see they were what I had expected, blocked 'em for good.

You know the whole if you build it they will come mentality, try using the if you ignore it they will go away. There is a lot of people I agree with on here and disagree with as well. It's not worth the time to argue about anything. There is nothing you can say that is gonna change somebody else's opinion as well as it won't change yours. Now if y'all want to learn something from each, shut up with the arguments and listen to each other, instead of insults, all why they have that opinion? You might learn went they feel that way or think that way. If I train two employees at work and teach them each a different way of doing something and that's all they know, they will think each other is wrong. Is either one wrong? No, they just only know one way of thinking. Learn from each other, like we should learn from history.

Will probably evolve (de-evolve) to that. Found discussing things with people I disagree with amicably helps me understand another's perspective. The more we wall ourselves off from people we disagree with, the more we tear apart of the fabric of the country.

To your point, the most extreme tearers (or "terrors") of the fabric have little value. Maybe its time to trim trim some fat.

I've let it be known. In a few weeks of me not posting on the politics forum (let it be known, I was the last to lay down my keyboard), it will devolve into a sh*tty link farm degrading cbid's seo even faster because there will be nobody in there to counteract the damage. Once cbid figures that out, the forum will be over.

I absolutely agree with you. If we had a disagreement, I would happily argue, discuss, debate, etc., any subject with you. I would hope and expect we would both find the discussion interesting, funny, and productive, whatever the outcome. Some aren't worth the trouble. There is no back and forth. There is no discussion. It turns into name-calling and moronic cut-n-paste articles from ridiculous sources. The forum also used to be a place where people could be their "persona" AND themselves. Perfect example was Wheel. Everyone knew Wheelrite. Some of us, yourself included, knew Bill. I argued with wheel. I laughed with Bill. I couldn't possibly give any fewer shits about "knowing" some of the current crop of clowns. It actually has nothing to do with "politics" and which side someone is on. It's just boring. I think back to jpotts. Not a huge fan, but I did enjoy arguing with him. He was at least interesting. These morons are, in a way, why I don't like "shock-jock" radio. It's not because I'm offended. It's because I'm not entertained.

Hell, these guys have even managed to screw up the vaunted tradition of the "fake account". Those used to be some of the funniest things on this forum. (Magwitch) I may have even had one or 2 through the years. Now it's just dumbf*ckery.

This is an interesting question, one I think most of you have gotten completely incorrect (and then of course devolved into insulting bgz, because what's a group of idiots without a defined "enemy")

I would encourage people to think about the history of cbid.
Political arguments have always been here. The politics board used to be significantly more active than it is now, and almost every post was arguments between the likes of myself, jpotts, pacman, tail, jade etc. There were idiots like drathaar or rug, or bloody who couldn't understand simple concepts such as math and would resort to the lowest common denominator.
Flaming has always been here. We've had people on here using language and dogwhistles much worse than rayray. He's absolutely nothing new.

Hell, people have always been here who didn't buy from cbid.
And the moderation used to be significantly more draconian, something people complained about, myself included.

People stayed because despite the negatives, there were things worth staying for. People who, despite differences, would be people worth knowing, people worth socializing with even outside of a forum. Again, despite political differences.

So... what happened over the past few years?

I'm sure it can't be anything about the people who stayed. Must be the people who left who changed.
