Caved today. Made it 6 weeks.

Picked up some Liga Privada H99 Papas Fritas.

I really liked that blend. For me it was up there with the UF-13.

Willie Herrera did a great job of combining the sweetness of the corojo with the spiciness of the Mexican binder.

I thought the the cigar was smooth and balanced, with a good kick of nicotine as well.

I had the H99 robusto btw.

Hoping I get the same great flavors in a shorter and much cheaper smoke.

It's gonna be close to $2K a month soon, as your palate evolves and craves $10 smokes, then $15, then $20+...

and then that beautiful end table humidor that has a 1,500 cigar capacity will catch your eye...all that space...

Lord help you...and hope your wife/significant other is tolerant...

Damn 2k a month? I'd get a Shelby Mustang and a box of Swishers instead. :)

I spent around 1,100 last fall, and that's a crazy amount to me. But I only average 2 to 3 cigars per week. Like Huzza said, when you do it that way it makes the hobby more affordable.

I think iffin’ that place still shipped to Hawaii, I probably would have bought a few too. BUT, I have soooo many cigars that I’mma glad I couldn’t. Luckily there are still places that haven’t gotten “the memo” and I can buy when the urge rears its ugly (…or beautiful, depending on how you look at it…) head. However, there’s an upside.

Like Delta said, it’s nice to get to older, sometimes forgotten inventory to see how they’ve aged. Additionally, I still have a lot of gifted cigars that I want to get to so not having the “distraction” of smoking new cigars is a bit of a blessing.

Yup. Case in point, the 2014 box of AF Hemingway Signature Maduros that I recently opened and took one out to smoke. Loved it!

I was thinking about how much face I'd lose after all this time and not crossing the finish line...then I considered the fun of digging into the old stash and enjoying long forgotten smokes...2 months doesn't seem all that insurmountable...

IR.2... continue smoking older stash when buying new stuff commences

Never ceases to amaze me that I’ll get an e-mail from a vendor, announcing the availability of OX and for s&g when I go in to peek, they’re sold out! Granted, sometimes, because of the time difference it may be almost 6 hours before I click on their link but gawd, there are people out there eagerly willing to shell out $30-ish, upwards of $80 for a single cigar! I like OX but not enough to shell out mid-$30 for a Lost City Robusto.

I guess the people that are buying them musta downgraded to $50 bills while lighting their cigars and mebbe chuckling instead of guffawing at us. jester

That God of water and sea place has $25 off an order of $150 or more with coupon code PRESIDENT and it works with any brand I think. I just bought a box of AF Cuban Corona MD and one Petite Corona MD to get my order to $150. Reset

I've been exercising my cigar acquisition ability, looking around, doing research for when the IR expires...

the "crown" or "circle" cigar place has a 20% off sale during Presidents Day weekend, code PREZ...had to leave 6 items in the cart...sigh...these deals will be gone in April, but there'll be other ones...

The monkey page is having pretty good sale. Had 35 solid sticks in the shopping cart for 72 dollars.

Hopefully I can stay strong and let the sale expire.

Also got 36 for $71 and change from the monkey though I believe this belongs on the best scores of the month thread

Today makes 30 days without me buying any cigars!

Last February, in the discussion about New Year's resolutions, I said I wanted to go a month without buying anything. It took me a year to go a month. But I finally did it! It seems to be getting a little easier too. The sales will always be there. I'm content to smoke what I have for now (unless some really killer offer comes along).

I need to get my storage situation under control. I think some reorganizing this spring will help with that a little.

This is what I keep reminding myself...

I had two boxes in my cart, but realized I had no room to store them once they arrived, so I let them die on the vine...

I could always get another tupperware tub...Think Brick wall Think Brick wall

I believe that I'll be happier if I take a reasonable and measured approach to buying cigars. I've learned during the past 10 months of this buying hiatus that I can live without "the next best thing." I've returned to some old parts of my stash that were "the next best thing" at one time...some were still good, some lost something over time.

I don't intend to go back to the willy nilly spending sprees that caused the cigar explosion in my office; end table humidor, three desk top humidors, 4 snap lid tupperdors, one large snap lid container that has a capacity of 12-15 boxes....approx 2,000+ cigars.

I've gotten rid of 2 of the tupperdors, and plan to retire the other two by transferring their contents into the humidors.

There are only 12 boxes left in the box storage bin, and most are half full or less. I'll keep that for box purchases. The end table humidor has room for a few boxes in the bottom compartment also, but it's a PITA to get on my knees to get them. I've put them in a slide out tray that helps somewhat...

The singles/loose cigars will go into the three desk tops and the end table humidor drawer and trays/shelves.

This will be a reset to about 7-8 years ago, before I caught a severe case of CAD...

nope...not low...purposeful downsizing so I can focus on getting boxes of cigars I know I like...my days of experimenting and trying new "next best thing" cigars by buying boxes of them are over...I'll limit my experimentation to 5ers, at most...

it's hard cuz you know the best price per cigar is when you buy a box...but if it's a "never had/wanna try cuz someone said they're really good" it is a risk to go for the box since you may not enjoy them...that's how I accumulated a lot of cigars...

I went to an online vendor and loaded up a cart with boxes of cigars (from 10-25/box to a cab of 48 for shorties). I knew I liked these and had put them on the "list" ...many of them were discounted for "sale"...took a great deal of effort to close the page without typing in my cc...woulda been $1,250+.........

I went 58 days straight. So close to a red chip, but I went in the B&M today and bought a handful of stuff.

Liga 10th Anni
Viaje 15th Anni
Padrón 3000 maduro
Las Calaveras ´21 x3
Stolen Throne Call to Arms

Could have been worse. He had a decent selection of Opus and stuff, but man were they expensive. Like, starting at $40+ per.

I’m removing myself from this thread……..I’m a lost cause.
I did make it 7 months once……11/4/21 to 6/5/22.
Pretty sure I made it 9 months once, quite a while ago.

Got to about three months but broke last weekend and picked up 3 sticks.
Getting an itch for more though need to top off the containers. Plus waiting on availability in the COTM over at the small place. Figured why not.

Yah, it’s basically pointless for me too BUT, seeing someone like Delta stick to his Ironclad Resolution inspires me to keep trying.

I was doin' alright. Hadn't bid/bought on CBid in 5 mos. Won an auction last night. Then the monkey's discord put out a round up this morning of their rare/exclusive (not so rare or exclusive) and a couple benjamins gone in 3 minutes flat.

I was wanting to try some DT&T and one of the offers is a 8 cigar sampler for a li'l under $9.50 each. Guess I'll be trying 8 different ones.

I guess it's been about 7 weeks without buying for me.

So in a little over 3 months I've only bought 1 tenski.

The secret is...start a new hobby or get back into an old one. You're still buying stuff, just not cigars. :)

Me too but different place has 40 off 150 or more so I bought a box of AF Cuban Corona MD (5.25 x 45). Their price was 152/box so I paid 112 with free shipping. 4.48/cigar how could I not?
