Cloudy, rainy and in the mid-80's...............hard to keep my eyes open. But this is quite welcome after a couple weeks of 100 plus temps.Took advantage of the weather and prepped the boat and gear for Mondays fishing excursion.

Hoping it all works out 8. Dealing with family can be a tough one. Luckily me and my family, kids, parents, nieces, nephews, cousins and stuff don't have major issues. We mostly get along together on the same page. Recent issues with my parents health problems have brought us together for a common cause in a good way. I hope yours are the same.

On another note: another crock pot recipe is cooking. I love me some easy slow cooker recipes. This time decided on doing a baked ham but in the slow cooker rather than the oven.

Hunk on the bone ham. Pat it down with with some brown sugar, dried mustard, a touch of paprika, salt and pepper. Toss some of the brown sugar mix in the bottom of the crock pot with some crushed pineapple to hold the ham off the bottom and have a place for the juices to settle. Then top the hunk of ham with whatever is leftover with the pineapple/brown sugar/mustard stuff and let it cook low and slow.

Prolly do some baked taters and some steamed vegies to go with it.

Bought some steak tips at a reasonable price too (lately beef prices have been oddly high out here). Maybe I'll do the tips tomorrow and/or some chicken thing.

I like to cook on the weekends when I have time to do so. One "problem" is that I cook too much. I can't cook for one, two or three people. My recipes don't allow it. Cooking a 7 lb ham is the same as cooking a 3 lb ham. Cook enough for all to eat plus add a bit for a couple lunch meals for the week. I also touch base with a couple elderly neighbors to see if they would like to have a meal delivered. Sometimes they say yes, sometimes no

It's pretty simple and it doesn't cost me anything to do so either way.

Double 4's and a NINE!

It was fantastic. His wife wasn’t along for the trip. Just him, his 8 year old daughter and 6 year old son. An eye opener. He’s turn a new leaf…. Unless he is in deep cover.

Just finished the last of the brisket I smoked before going on vacation... we vacuum seal and freeze chunks of it. Got another 14.5 lb sucker that's going on the smoker 4th of July.

Which reminds me... I need to make sure I have enough charcoal/wood.

Took Tank to the dog park. Not much running around, as it's hot, but he walked around sniffing and peeing for a good half hour before looking at me like... "Bruh, start the truck and put the AC on blast".

Definitely need to make sure you have charcoal and wood. I’ll be hungry when I get there. Thirsty too I’m sure.

I’m about an hour west of San Antonio. Stopping in Schulenburg, TX tonight. Will be home tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon.

Have to leave Monday AM about 6:15 to meet another driver in Hammond, LA and swap trailers. He’ll take my loaded trailer to West Palm and and Miami. I’ll take his empty and go park it and my tractor for a couple weeks near the house.

I’ve got a few chores and errands to do afterwards. Then I plan to leave out about 7 AM or earlier my time Tuesday headed to Jax.

Made it back to Hades (AZ) today. Went from low 70s with an ocean breeze this am in Carlesbad to 112 in the shade this afternoon in Phoenix. At least the drive was really easy, no trouble spots at all. And the ungrateful monsters, I mean 'kids', played quietly the whole way home.

70 now, 82 later. Sunny, low humidity.

Grilling Eye-Talian sausages late morning. Video chat with the boy in the early afternoon. Always interesting watching him continue to evolve.

Soon to be out to pick up a flat of strawberries and poison for Carpenter ants snacking on my deck. Most of them plump. Saw a real skinny one. Called her Karen.

The good news is, at least the climate changer deniers get a little quieter when it gets to be 120 degrees for a couple weeks. I know, I know. Climate change is….. transitory and mostly peaceful.

I don't think anyone is denying the climate is changing. It is changing and it has always changed. What is causing the change is the crux of the argument.

We're using data from 150 years ago forward. It has been much hotter on the planet and much colder.

Carbon Dioxide is being made out as the bad guy, and those levels have been much higher in the past, too. And spoiler alert... it's necessary for life.

Think we are screwed either way.
More cars burning more gas than ever.
Electric cars burning coal generated power plants to feed them.
More people, period.
Growing seasons, temperatures and rain all out of whack.

Just need the Ruskies to blow up that nuclear power station in Zapatritza to add to the figurative and literal hotbox.

Heat advisory today. Currently 84 with 72% humidity. Was brutal at 75 and 93% humidity on the dog walk...

Headed for 97. I just changed the AC filter and flushed the drain line this morning.

We’ll be getting a heat blast on the 4th of July. Projected 91 degrees with high humidity.

Calling for rain on and off all day today. Prolly just do a lot of nothing other than some standard cleaning chores around the house.

Thought about doing a red curry chicken and vegies thing since I haven't cooked curry in a while. However I'm lacking coconut milk and don't feel like going to the grocery store. I'll add that to the short list for next time.

Decided to go with some steak tips for tonight's menu with either basmati or jasmine rice and some steamed broccoli.

Wife is cooking beef adobo. I'll be on that like a buzzard on a carcass later.

Tank is sleeping peacefully on the carpet at my feet. Just a couple feet from his bed...d'oh!

Plenty of charcoal for smoking. Got a bag of mesquite for smoke wood. I do need to hit Publix tomorrow for some pepper and some rolls. Brisket sammiches are delicious.

It's real, but the control freaks using climate change to attain their goals need to counter record-low temperatures. In related news...

Just another day of near or at 110 and very low RH. Nothing new wit dat and no politics involved. Wife and I did an early 5 mile hike in the mountain preserve just a few miles from the recent fire but upwind so didn't notice anything different. The white wings are feasting on the ripe sugars fruit. Cigar on the patio and then on to the gym.

In other news report today says Florida has the highest auto insurance in the nation because about 20% don't even carry any liability at all.

California has lost 500,000 residents since 2020 due to cost of living.

Four Seven NINE!

Another thought for a future rainy day meal. Good old fashioned homemade meat loaf. I haven't made this thing in a while either. I'll add it to the list.

Running out of fresh fruit for snacks and too lazy to go shopping. Guess I'll place an order for Walmart to make a grocery delivery. Need some more grapes, strawberries, kiwi, & mango. I would do a pineapple too but it's a pain in the ass to cut up. With that said, there is a watermelon in my sights to get butchered today.

That's far from the real reason: Insurance lobby money rules the state legislature.

No statutory penalties for an auto insurer failing to act in good faith. So, their reply to everything is just... sue us. Their lawyers cheat every chance they think they can get away with. Judges punish them harshly. Then, when the cases go to court and they get creamed because of their lawyers' behavior, those are the only cases they complain to the legislature about.

Worse, the legislature won't listen to the consequences of weak auto insurance laws for real people. The laws could be easily revised, but wouldn't be as profitable for the insurers- so it stays this way.

And, we don't enact appropriate, mandatory, auto insurance coverage with sufficient penalties for not having it.

Miserable weekend.

Wife's office's men's toilet plumbing line was corroded and finally failed- uh, burst. Water all over into the lobby. Had to get s plumber over there and then clean it up. Insurance deductible is $20k. So, we cleaned it up ourselves.

Home Depot wet-carpet vacuums and blow dryers took care of it by this morning, but we have spent all our time and energy yesterday and today on the problem.

Wife is still on crutches still and I had to do all the driving around and work. .I'm beat

See the best NASCAR drivers still can’t drive in the rain.

While they wait, they should tap into Ring doorbell cams on the southwest side to watch people racing stolen KIAs while exchanging gunfire.

THAT’S entertainment!
