Got home to an 82 degree house. Seems like my AC has been humming since I dropped it back to 74.

80 and sunny at 10am. Gonna get hotter.

Son is home from law school for the weekend. Last semester he had a 3.8 with only one B+. He "booked" (highest grade) in two classes of about 90 students in each. Thankfully, one book award is from legal writing/research and oral argument. IMO, this is the most important class in all of law school! He heads back to Miami this afternoon. Sad

Sunday morning wake up at 7am to go to the new bagel shop in town. Everything, sesame and poppyseed. Came out of the oven so hot the server had to use tongs not to burn himself!

Pulled and sprayed weed with round in the beds in front of the house for like half an hour.

Nothing planned today except for my wife's too big, too fat friend coming over to try out her ne kayak in our pool to see if it will be safe- since she weighs 20lbs. over the top weight range for it. She's an idiot to cut it that close and not buy one that includes her weight. And. I got volunteered by my wife to stand out there and watch her so she doesn't drown while rolling over. Just Ludicrous. Like a size 12 woman buying a size 8.

Hope everyone has a nice day. Herfing

Are powerbill for a

Are you kidding me?

It's been 97 here for several days over the last 10 days and not much less that 90+ every other day with oppressive humidity.

I just got a $469 power bill for two of us in a 2,750 sq ft house -and will be getting bills like this and a bit higher through September/mid-October. And we have a very efficient cooling system (21-23 seer), with a variable-speed compressor and fan system that runs all the time, very slowly, to keep the humidity out of the air. On top of that, every room has ceiling fans.

On the other hand, I don't have your heating bills...

Hey!
I was just a skinny lad
Never knew no good from bad
But I knew life before I left my nursery
Left alone with big fat Fanny
She was such a naughty nanny
Heap big woman, you made a bad boy out of me
Hey, hey!
I've been singing with my band
Across the wire, across the land
I seen every blue eyed floozy on the way, hey
But their beauty and their style
Went kind of smooth after a while
Take me to them dirty ladies every time
C'mon
Oh, won't you take me home tonight?
Oh, down beside your red fire light
Oh, and you give it all you got
Fat bottomed girls
You make the rocking world go 'round
Fat bottomed girls
You make the rocking world go 'round
Hey, listen here
Now I got mortgages on homes
I got stiffness in my bones
Ain't no beauty queens in this locality, I tell you
Oh, but I still get my pleasure
Still got my greatest treasure
Heap big woman, you done made a big man out of me
Now get this
Are (I know) you gonna take me home tonight? (Please)
Oh, down beside that red fire light
Are you gonna let it all hang out?
Fat bottomed girls
You make the rocking world go 'round (yeah)
Fat bottomed girls
You make the rocking world go 'round
Get on your bikes and ride
Oh yeah, oh yeah, them fat bottomed girls
Fat bottomed girls
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Alright, ride 'em cowboy
Fat bottomed girls
Yes, yes

Third weekend in the northland. Moved some stuff around for mom and hung out with her.

Floated down the river for the 27th consecutive summer. Hope to get another booked for July.

Post float dinner at the local. Reuben sandwich followed with Raspberry Chocolate Cream pie.

Cigars part of the pre and post game.

Other than underslept and some sunburn, it was great.

I dont run ac unless it's stupid humid. But it's been very dry this year. Even the swamp out back is walkable. I haven't even used the ac in my new car yet other than making sure it worked.

Heat bills used to be fairly cheap but gas prices have tripled in the past couple years.

I've got new furnace this year, new ac 2 years ago. Utility bills for my 800sq ft house are usually 300-350 in the winter, and 250-300 running ac. With no heat or ac the past couple months the bills been about 200. About half that is delivery and service fees.

Up and atom youse guys. Gonna be a seasonal and toasty 79/107 so out the door I go for a walk.

On this day in 1990 it was 122 and I celebrated by going for a 5 mile run. They closed down the airport for a few hours because their takeoff charts didn't go that high.

Took wife to the doctor today for her post-op foot. Got him to sign a handicap sticker application. So, after driving her to work, I am sitting here at the DMV waiting for my number to be called- essentially my turn.

Also getting new d/l because mine is so old and I was so fat back then that people who look at my license tell me to get a new one. One of my docs said the same. So, I'm doing that too.

Probably take care of some business before noon and then spray the weeds on pool deck/patio. Hopefully, I will get to swim today.

Air quality is garbage today. In the Unhealthy range for everyone. After 10+ hours in the soot yesterday, I have to watch my unhealthy asssss.

Microparticles get into the lower lobe of the lungs, making it difficult to breath.

So this is what it was like living in LA during the 70's (minus the crime).

When I lived in San Diego in the 90s I could drive to LA on bad air days and it would give me migraines. It wasn’t just the 70s!

Damn Dan where do you live that you don’t have to run AC? On the other hand, I don’t envy your heating and cooling bills. My house is around 1700 sqft. Though I’m never there my Mom lives in it. It’s in south Louisiana. Just paid my latest electric bill. It was $91 and change. IIRC the highest bills are the ones that come in the winter. Those run about $160ish. In the spring and fall the bills run $50-$60.

The house is about 60 years old. The insulation in the walls is new as I had to gut it in 2016 due to the flood. But, the attic insulation is original and has settled to less than half its installed height. If I blew in more insulation up there I could probably cut my bill by at least 20-30 percent.

Just paid my last months yesterday. $192 for power/water. This months will be less because we were gone for 18 days and the AC was set at 82 and nobody was here using water.

I imagine July and August will be $250+.

Welcome to a full summer in Florida. You ain't seen nothing yet.
And, you may find that it will be even higher for 2-3 months depending on whether your house gets humid.

Meh... got here July 15th last year, so I'd pretty much say I've seen a full year of weather.

I don't care for the heat/humidity and constant afternoon thunderstorms, but it's a trade off.

CA is now trying to raise the annual boat registration fees by 300%.
