How's the Government closure affecting YOU?

About the same way sequestration did (you know, the last time the world ended): It's not.

I'd rather work for my money. I don't want a hand out.

My wife actually told me she hopes she doesn't get paid because it's just more ammo to fling at fed employees. She meant it too.

I told her that's nonsense and to grab the money lol.

ho
Don't want a hand-out? Yeah, right.
That's why Government employees are despised by so many.

Your wife appears to have a semblance of the principles of decency, self respect, and pride that made this country great however.

Who said anything about Trickle Down?! Trickle Up is also widely discredited.
Raising taxes on corporations mean job will be destroyed. Through cost cutting or prices increased. Raising taxes on the rich means they buy muni bonds taxfree.
California is a wonderful but they still can't keep their residents from evacuating eastward. If it weren't for Mexicans, its population would be shrinking.
Cut taxes for everyone and increase govt borrowing is what I suggest.

I used to believe that as well but am beginning to question it as an institutional myth pushed by the wealthy.
Think about it. What do the rich do when they have more disposable cash? You see new jobs, factories, and construction all around the Third World, don't you? Why not here? Too expensive? Give them tax benefits and incentives and they'll just invest more aggressively where they can get a better bang for their dollar, again NOT here.

We're on a downward spiral. Government might as well stimulate matters a bit temporarily if nothing else by giving the poor and soon to be (middle class) a few more discretionary dollars to spend on beer, party hats, cigars, & fantasy football. Thus, giving a semblance of normalcy to our foundering, gangrenous, and rather stagnant economy.

"Retirees and Annuitants,

You will continue to receive your pay on time during this government shutdown.

Military retirees and annuitants are not paid from Continuing Resolution Act (CRA) appropriations. Therefore, your payments are not affected by this shutdown."

LOL- You might as well be mercenaries for all the good you're doing the American taxpayer.
AND are the bennies worth the death and lifelong injuries to a few for the cause of foreign intervention & rebuilding? I think not.

So do you now buy into the theory that if you raise taxes on corporations, they'll hire more people? Can we experiment with your business!
?
Businesses invest where the see market growth. In the grand scheme of things the US economy is full and saturated. There are still decent markets, just not untapped markets.

Raise or lower taxes I don't think most will hire in large numbers again. That ship sailed long ago. Too many investors want to maintain a big return on their dollar even as profit margins diminish. My point was that we should... (reread my bottom paragraph) squeeze the rich (especially Hollywood) a bit more & perhaps pay for extend unemployment benefits, lower food stamp qualifications, invent new public works, etc. anything that will put a little more coin in the pockets of the poorer classes. The open market as we knew it is dead for most. So think of it as one last blast!

Wait a minute, I've got it!
Plenty of opportunities are goin a'wastin' working abroad in mess halls and laundries serving up hot meals and doing the wash now that the military can't be bothered with peeling taters and washing their own dirty drawers after they finish building roads, schools, bridges, and killing bad guys with drones.

Squeeze the rich...now you're talking like a peasant. Now we're gonna go after Hollywood to make it sound more tasty!

Is punishing success really sustainable and at what point are you the targeted "rich". You really want to get ahead by out-stealing others?

Didn't say there was a remedy, I think we're too far gone at this point and Hollywood would only be a start.
What would you suggest to spark and maintain our economy short term?

We need to tax small businesses at much higher rates. They all cheat on their taxes anyway.

Those are dished by my man "B". You're a little late to the game. You have to place your bet before the game starts, not when almost finished. Stop trying to swim updtream.
