ut the Tea Party is not the majority of the Republican party now, is it?
Just because you say that doesn't make it true. We have Reagan's platform, it's documented. Saying he would take the teaparty's platform is conjecture and fantasy that fits your rationalization (and flawed at that). His actual platform is fact and would not fly today. Parts of it would for sure, and you can cherry pick them, but others would not. His immigration position alone would disqualify him (Cruz would tear him a new bunghole).
Lets not forget Reagan was about inclusion and compromise not obstruction and exclusion. He did not vilify the opposition and actually liked them and got along with them even though they differed politically and intellectually. His rule of thumb was if he could get 70% of what he wanted he could negotiate/compromise the 30% away. It is the approach of a shrewd negotiation team who recognizes w-l isn't sustainable and w-w is the goal. The no compromise (zero) crowd from which Cruz panders are not remotely in the Reagan mold. In that one sense (and only that one) Trump is more like Reagan than Cruz by a long shot. I really don't see Cruz as remotely resembling Ronnie other than he proclaims it and his cult members repeat it. Not many outside of that niche see it.
Gummy we just disagree. Cruz does not represent me or my values unless I accept how you define him (and how he wants you to define him) which I do not. You can try to find comfort in some gyration of your definition of him but I've made up my mind on him years ago.
Hillary does not represent me or my values either and I have no desire to vote for her. I would vote for her over Satan or Cruz. That's about it. In fairness I would vote for Cruz over Satan but I'm not sure there is a huge gap. In my opinion, he is a dangerous person and I'm sorry more can't see it. You have a different view. It's cool. I think he is a false prophet. I truly believe given time folks will be embarrassed they ever supported him. I suspect an unraveling of the facade at some point. In fairness again that may be true of several of these folks. I'd sure be embarrassed had I ever held Palin up as a great conservative intellectual. Rubio was a teaparty darling now he is the establishments last great hope and is hated by the teaparty. They turned on him and I beleive they would have on Ronnie as well. These fads fade quickly, and we live in different times. Ronnie in todays world is a fantasy. I don't think he could/would exist.
By the way.... unrelated to all this... did anyone see the show on AHC about Ronnie and the blacklist/cia stuff? Fascinating.
