'She is living in fear' Lisa Bloom explains why Trump accuser didn't attend press call
A woman who accuses Donald Trump of raping her when she was just 13 has pulled out of a press conference after allegedly receiving death threats.
The woman, identified only as Jane Doe, alleges that Trump raped her at a party in 1994.
The attack allegedly took place at a New York apartment belonging to Jeffrey Epstein – a billionaire investor convicted of soliciting an underage prostitute in 2008.
The alleged victim had been poised to go on the record about her claims against the two billionaires but refused to just minutes before she was due to appear at a press conference in Los Angeles.
Her lawyer Lisa Bloom said the woman had received “terrible threats” and feared she would be targeted if she spoke out against the Presidential candidate.
“Jane Doe has received numerous threats as have all the Trump accusers that I’ve represented,” Bloom explained.
“She is living in fear. She has decided that she is too afraid to show her face. She has been here all day, ready to do it, but unfortunately she is in terrible fear. So we’re going to have to reschedule.”
The woman's bombshell allegations threaten to have a devastating effect on Trump’s bid for the White House just four days from America going to the polls.
Sources in his campaign team fear it will shift the negative attention back on the Republican after gaining ground much need group on rival Hillary Clinton in recent days.
Trump, who has strenuously denied the allegations against him, saw a surge in his ratings after the FBI had said they were reinvestigation the former First Lady, 69, over her use of an unsecured server to send classified emails.
However, despite the women pulling out lawyers for the two men have been ordered to appear before a New York court on December 16 for a pretrial hearing.
The allegations against the property mogul were filed on September 30 under the of Jane Doe in the Southern District Court of New York.
The court documents say she was “subject to acts of rape, sexual misconduct, criminal sexual acts, sexual abuse” by Trump and Epstein.
The now 35-year-old also claims the pair assaulted her, inflicted emotional distress, held her prisoner and also threatened her with her life.
Jane Doe alleges the crimes took place during parties at Epstein’s house on Manhattan’s Upper East Side during the summer of 1994 after she was picked up by a woman and taken to the address.
Her lawsuit raises the extraordinary prospect, were Trump, 70, to win on Tuesday, of counsel for a US president-elect being called into federal court in proceedings relating to allegations of rape of an underage girl.
Her original complaint was filed under the name of ‘Jane Doe’ but was retracted before being refiled in September.
Her lawsuit claims Trump raped the then-13-year-old plaintiff in the 1990s which is supported by a witness, known as 'Tiffany Doe' who worked for Epstein.
She said her then boss had her pickup teenage girls for his parties.
One of these girls was 'Jane', and Tiffany said she witnessed Trump and Epstein rape the plaintiff several times.
The new complaint added a third woman known as 'Joan Doe' who was schoolfreind of 'Jane'.
“In the 1994-95 school year, I was told by the plaintiff in Jane Doe v. Trump and Epstein that the plaintiff was subject to sexual contact by the Defendants at parties in New York City during the summer of 1994,” her declaration states.
The woman is seeking more than $75,000 (£61,000) in “special damages, compensatory damages, and punitive damages|”.
Trump’s lawyer has strenuously denied the allegations.
"The allegations are reckless, irresponsible and categorically untrue," said his attorney, Alan Garten.
However Cheney Mason, the attorney who filed the complaint in New York court and said that Trump would have to face these allegations while under oath.
"This case, based on the sworn declarations of the victim and two corroborating witnesses, will be tried in court, where the defendants will be required to answer questions under oath and pursuant to the rules of evidence," Mr Mason said in a statement.
The allegations are the latest in growing number of claim made against Trump by women who claim he was sexually abusive to them.
They came following the release of audio that captured him bragging about groping and kissing women without their consent.
In the last month of his presidential campaign, Trump was accused of sexual misconduct by 11 different women.
Bloom is also representing Jill Harth, who claims Trump sexually assaulted her while the two did business together in the mid-1990s.
Epstein, 63, pleaded guilty in June 2008 to a single charge of soliciting prostitution and was handed an 18-month prison sentence as part of a plea deal.
He had been facing up to 20 years in prison.
It came following an FBI sting two years earlier after agents were tipped off he had been paying for sex with underage girls at his Florida home.
He served just over a year in jail before being released under house arrest for the remaining part of his sentence while being forced to register as a sex offender.
Trump and Epstein’s friendship dates back to the 1990s and included Bill Clinton, 70, as well as British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, the daughter of the late media mogul Robert Maxwell.
