Good birthday, day Monkey.

Had steak and eggs along with a couple Bloody Mary's for breakfast with my work wife. Got a nap in afterwards- not with the work wife.

Won and smoked a couple cigars playing the bones and then basketball.

Long warm shower and not wearing pants.

Not a bad way to end the day.

Coworker's last night tonight. I've had a longstanding tradition of making a last meal for people I like when they leave. She requested tacos.

Brined and smoked a chicken, grilled some spare ribs, shredded and seasoned both. Simmered and mashed up a pot of pinto beans with the fat trimmings. Also made a bowl of habanero pico.

Hopefully were the right amount of busy where I can keep all my staff, but still have downtime for the last meal.

About two hours late for bed now.

My coworker killed a wild hog and brought me some of the chorizo he had made from it.

Pretty damn tasty.

52/82 Time for spring yard work.

And Peter Cottontail is going to get a load of snakeshot if he don't stay out of my garden.

Last meal pt II today.

Was gonna do collard greens and cornbread, and that would've been a lot faster, but I already had most of the stuff for red beans n rice, so that's what's in the pot today.

I really want to sleep instead. Should be done by noon, giving me about 4 hours to sleep. It's the last night of my workweek though, so I'll just sleep tomorrow.

In the 8 years I've been in my house I've not seen one rabbit.

I grew up in a much more densely populated town, then moved to a close Chicago suburb, then moved to Chicago proper, then to Gary proper, and then to unincorporated county where I live now. Everywhere else I've lived has had rabbits everywhere.

I've got beavers, groundhogs, squirrels, but no rabbits. Lots of hawks around here probably has something to do with it.

Thats exactly why we have so many. I can easily see 25-30 each morning on my 3 mile walk. This is a desert suburb but they are everywhere. We have hawks, coyotes, owls and bobcats but the bunnies just keep screwing.

we have wild cottontails in many parts of our city, too...even with coyotes, dogs, raptors, and snakes, rabbits do multiply...

Also see a lot of lizards on my walks...
