No, upper midwest, but not for much longer.
Vacations in the gulf coast, and I always sample the local fare.
Discovered my love for cajun there. Gumbo every day, red beans n rice, jambalaya wherever I can find it, creole, etc.
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
You should check out the Gumbo Shack in Fairhope if you haven't already. Unique and delicious!
DeSoto's Seafood Kitchen in Gulf Shores has a killer Cajun platter. MMMMMMM! Yah's gettin me hungry!
I road trip it, so it's bbq all the way down, then all the way back up. I plan my route to hit certain spots.
Southern IL, Tenn, and Bama all have some fantastic stuff. No buns, no sauce, just the f'n meat baby!
If I'm ever on my way to MI, I always stop at the Dixie Kitchen. Fabulous jambalaya and gumbo. Beans n rice, not so much.
Pick up a weeks worth on my way back.
Loves me some good food! I'd be obese if I didn't work out constantly.
