President Trump apologized for his insensitive use of the word "lynching" to describe the House Dems impeachment inquiry into his alleged abuse of power.
Trump rarely apologizes for anything, and never admits to being insensitive, so this was an historic first for his term in office.
In true Trump fashion, though, he pleased his base of supporters. He apologized for using the word "lynching" because he didn't realize that a German American (white) had been killed a century ago by a mob of angry anti-immigrant Americans (also white). He then substituted the term "crucifixion of Jesus Christ" to replace "lynching," to describe his impeachment...
which surprisingly did not get any outrage from his evangelical base.
All this without any acknowledgement of the racially charged history of lynching in America, where hundreds of black persons were viciously killed on trumped up pretenses by lawless white mobs, thereby poking the eyes of black American leaders who criticized his whine that he was being "lynched."
entertaining political theater under Trump...that says a lot about who we are...
