JTS got it right. The cheap part wasn't about it being poor quality, just a bargain and it worked out well as a mixer rye. I don't often drink rye. Mostly bourbon. Scotch from time to time.

Dickel Column Still Collaboration Blend Rye

A little sweeter than most ryes. Son’s “friend” brought the bottle for today’s luncheon.

Bulliet Rye.

Was talking to the wide while I poured and accidentally poured a solid four or five fingers worth.

Shucks, guess I will just have to man up and drink it all.

For s&g I bought a bottle just before COVID and I gotta say, for under $20, it's a more than decent bottle.

Yes it is. Son's "friend" told me it retailed for over $100 but said she didn't think it was worth it. It was good but hadda agree. I have the palate of a donkey but honestly wouldn't pay more than $50.

The bourbon? Stuffs 70 bucks a bottle here and absolutely delicious.

Dan is that different than the 10 year? The Henry McKenna I found in the exchange says it's 10 year, single barrel, and bottled in bond.

Same bottle. The last I purchased at NAS Pensacola was $59 and some change. Just a few years ago it could be had for $30-$35 until one barrel was picked as bourbon of the year.

Yeah... got my bottle at NAS for $59. I will have to do the taste test again, but I think I actually liked that better than the Blanton's. I really liked the Blanton's, too... lol

I have heard from several people now while perusing the bourbon aisles that this Penelope bourbon is good stuff.

Any of you fine bourbon lovers have any experience with the stuff? Is it worth a try?

Old Forester Single Barrel

Tamura's store pick. I've had this for awhile but it kept getting pushed further and further in the back until one day I was looking for my Woodford Doubled Oak and ran across the OF. Two, no more than 3 pours left, should finish it off.

Russell's Reserve 6 year rye. Prolly a 3 oz pour.

After the really good stuff (Blanton's, Eagle Rare, Henry McKenna) this was just meh... and I like it a lot.

I understand why this went from $30 to $60 real quick. Yeah, it won some award or whatever... but it's really frickin' good.

Nice Costco find, MACS!

Sagamore rye. I just realized it has a nice sour cherry note that I really like.

Last night, Blanton;s.

Blanton's is good but I prefer either of the Col E.H. Taylor offerings or ELT.

The only problem is these three are pricey and hard to find like Blanton's.
