Years of drinking Bookers and Knob Creek this is my first bottle of Bakers, I like it.

I like it better than Bookers...but everyone has different preferences.

Got meself a bottle of Aberlour 16.

I haven't cracked the bottle yet. I've had it before, though, and as I recall... I liked it a lot.

Alright, I poured myself a little. My memory served me right, it's a very good scotch. It's got a sherried sweetness, typical of the speyside, very slight oaky note, taste kind of lingers but it's pleasant. I'm surprised you haven't tried this... your moniker is speyside, afterall.

For the money... I think the Macallan 12 or the Balvenie Doublewood 12 at mid 40's are a better deal. It's better, for sure... but probably not 30 dollars better.

I have had the Balvenie Doublewood 17, though... and at $158, it's worth the extra coin. I should have sprung for that one.

It's worth the extra $30. Smooth as fkn butter. No burn, slight spiciness, the oakiness is what lingers, but it's pleasant. IIRC I smoked an Opus X with this, and the raisin notes complemented the drink.

I have often enjoyed the 12, I'll have to get an 16 now. It sounds quite good.

That was neat, brother. I never bothered to add a drop or two of water. Might be a whole new experience. I was enjoying it straight, though.

you sort of added the specifics to what I got from it! and that thick oily mouthfeel probably explains why this stuff was hanging on the sides of the glass.

I'll get a back up for my bar, but only know a few people that I am certain would "get" it. Most might just get the heat...which is understandable.

So I text Ron from the liquor store, askin about Old Forrester Statesman and Elijah Craig Barrel strength....and he keeps telling me I need to put the fighting Caulk in my mouth.....I assumed he meant the cigar or our Vegas shower party....but there it was Fighting Cóck bourbon.

I found Heaven Hill Old Style 6 year bourbon. The choice is clear.

Heaven Hill old style is a top notchoice 6 year old cheap bourbon. And Ron keeps texting me about the fighting caulk.....such is life.

FYI he can't find the Old Style I think we know what that means.

I would agree they are overpriced, based on retail pricing. However, all but the Elmer T., will be pretty difficult to get your hands on (at least in PA). The "Secondary Market" is another story...........

Booker's Kentucky Straight Rye 13 year old goes for around $800

Four Roses Limited Edition 2017 averages around $400

Parker's Heritage Collection Straight Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey goes for around $350

Elmer T. Lee Straight Bourbon Whiskey goes for a paltry $100 (but a nice ROI)

Not that I would buy any of these to resell (which can be done fairly quickly) but you would have to be pretty lucky to find most of these at retail prices. They just get grabbed up by people with connections in most states.

That was rather wimpy Frank.

I was tempted to open a bottle of ETL too but went with Russell's Reserve with a few drops of water instead.

Don't know the difference between ^ and regular Old World but their utilization of wine cask to finish the regular results in something special, IMHO.
