The Vherf should be like Vegas, what happens on the Vherf... No worries there. Eye bleach and shock therapy helps alleviate some of the residual trauma. |

My sister makes a damn good pernil. I prefer to call it pulled pork and cook it on the smoker instead of roasting, but either way it tastes great. In fact... I ain't used the smoker for a little while. I may need to fire it up. Off to the park with a pup who was not really exercised yesterday. Went for a walk, but that was it. He had a bath and I really didn't want him rolling around in mud the next day... although you know the grass ain't dry... so he'll be muddy today. |

Just got back from my 1st rabies shot. Had to drive 30 miles each way to Cardinals stadium but the whole operation was very efficient once there. Hundreds of volunteers directing cars into lines 24 hours/day. Never leave the car and in/out in 30 minutes which included the 15 min wait after the shot to make sure there was no reactions.
Stopped by Alien Donuts on the way back for an apple fritter and an old fashion maple/bacon. |

Sunoverbeach wrote:Morning. Work on the room today and hoping they're lying about the snow supposed to be coming our way. I've got a good streak of not firing up the snowblower so far This guy has usually been pretty spot on: https://davesweathereye.wordpress.com/2021/01/30/winter-storm-warning-for-all-of-chicagoland-and-nwi/?fbclid=IwAR2e9ts_McpBqhbaAUszr2oQadjGbuJzsrhYO6BOfQzZ7G2zCJymCVV_Ouo He convinced me enough to go get some gas and mix up some 2 stroke for the snowblower that's not been out for 2-3 years. Filled it up and it started on the 4th or 5th pull. Not bad for a machine I took outta someone's garbage in 1999. I've never opened the engine, I've only cleaned the carb jets once, right after I got it out the garbage. I've put two spark plugs in it, a scraper blade, an auger, and a clutch. About 5 years ago it needed to run on slight choke and smokes a lot and doesn't have as much power anymore. Probably need to re-ring it but it's used so infrequently. Got a family birthday party right when the snow is supposed to start. Made sure my truck could shift into and out of 4wd. It's a manual system, a little clunky but it seems like it works. At least the dash display said it does. First time with a 4wd vehicle. Had a 4wd plow truck at my old job but that was a late 70's Chevy with a manual trans and transfer case. This truck has a manual transfer case but auto trans. When I shifted into 4Low it took a lot of brake to hold it back, so I'm pretty sure it works. So, checked the truck and got the snowblower running. Topped off generator gas and made sure it runs. Should probably run to Menards and get a bag of salt but I don't care to deal with Saturday crowds. I've got half a bucket full, will make it work. Brother in law mounted his tractor plow and chains and my buddy put his PTO snowblower on the back of his tractor. All this prep probably means no snow. |

Stopped by Alien Donuts on the way back for an apple fritter and an old fashion maple/bacon. Most of us didn't have much reaction to the first round, just sore at the injection site. Round two, make sure you don't have big plans for like 36 hours from injection time. |

See? See? That is a damn good reason to live somewhere warm. Earthquakes are rare, and usually cause little damage, if any. Humidity sucks, but at least you ain't freezing your nads off shoveling snow.
Hurricanes... well, infrequent but you best be prepared for them. Or GTFO of town. |

Hurricanes... well, infrequent but you best be prepared for them. Or GTFO of town. Other than my low tax bill and a very gun friendly state, I really have nothing to argue against moving to a warmer climate. We get the 100°+ days and the -30°+ days. Summer humidity is on par with Florida, it's brutal. I don't really mind snow, I prefer it over the bitter cold without snow. At least when it snows it gives me something to do. But I think I'd rather mow my lawn year round over having to switch up yard tools for the seasons. Lots of coworkers that have left to do travel contracts have settled down in southern states. I've always said I'd love to move to Chattanooga area, southern TN/northern GA latitude. I think that would be perfect for me. Brother in law wants to move to SC/GA. If he convinces sister in law to go down there, I might have a chance in getting the wife to leave northwest Indiana. |
