I'm getting married very soon [53 Days, but who's counting?]and need some advice as far as what smokes to bring to the wedding. I am looking for something mild, in a double corona-churchill size. Does anyone have any suggestions? These will be given away to anyone who wants them so I am not looking for premiums, just a good moderately priced smoke.

thanks,

Josh

feel free to email any suggestions to me as well, jleveque_1999(at)hotmail(dot)com

Buy robusto's... breaks my heart to see 1/2 smoked dbl coronas in ashtray. Many people won't finish them...

I had Ashton Magnum's for my wedding...

Although they're a bit expensive, Montecristo White is a good mild cigar (and the white theme is appropriate for your wedding).

Cupidos (with little cherub bands) are also good for a wedding/birth and can be had inexpensively here or at CI

AF Chateau Fuente SG

Ashton like Low said

Buy a box of Cumbres if you can find them very mellow.

I've gotten from Cbid Royal Jamaica Double Coronas, that already have 5 years of age, at a very good price. Everyone how I've given one of these cigars to is surprised at how good a cigar it is.

I bought some cigars for my sister's wedding in October. I bought one box of Torano Signatures for the avid cigar smokers. I bought one box (bundle) of Sherpa Mystic for the people who dont smoke cigars often or like mild cigars. The dual wrappers on the Mystic give it that "wow" appeal -- especially for the non-aficionados.

BTW, I agree with Low. I'd stick to robustos or coronas. Anything larger than that is a serious time commitment for the smoker. Free time is one thing you and most of your immediate family wont have on your wedding day. The day will go fast.

JLuv:

Bro. I am in the same boat! September 5, 2004. I am finally getting hitched after 37 years of bachelor-hood.

I've given this some serious thought and here's what I've come up with:

1. This is an event that neither you or 1/2 of your guests should miss. If you and your guests have to take the smoking festivities outside...guess what?? They'll be smoking while you get dragged back inside to cut the cake, etc.

Solution: Buy robustos. They're quick, and everyone loves them.

2. Like you, I am an avid cigar smoker. Some of my friends are as well, but most just say they are. These are the guys that will take two puffs for the pictures, and lay the thing down in the ashtray to die an untimely death. I HATE THAT!!

Solution: Get a great bundle, or two for that matter! Have the caterer display them in several wine glasses, or short tumbler glasses. They'll look like you spent a million. For your smoking friends keep a stash off to the side and distribute them on the down-low!

Issue solved!

Our reception at the Baltimore Waterfront Marriott ends at 11:00pm. From there we'll be retiring to the sweet sweet cigar bar in the lobby for the bigger vitolas...which I will provide for my serious smoking buddies.

Good luck man.

I will be getting hitched on September 4th and am going through the same dilema. The cigar smoking will be taking place outside, so I will not be able to enjoy a decent size stick during the festivities.

I found a couple of cool options:

1 - CI has a private label service where they can add a custom band to a box of sticks.

2 - Cusano distributes some "Just Married" banded cigars. I've never tried them, but I like other Cusano products. Don't know how much they are either.

3 - Make your own band and switch it out for any cigars you like. There is a guy on the board who posted a picture for me of a band he designed when his son was born (sorry, can't remember who it was). He used a regular color printer and attached the band with fruit pectin (available at the super market, I think).

I will be taking a different turn. I'll have some good cigars there for my friends I know could appreciate them and a bunch of cheaper ones to give out. I am also incorporating the cigars into the wedding (my fiance's idea). For the table assignments, instead of having a table number on each of the card, each one will have a different band on it. Each table will have a couple types of those cigars on them and they have to find the table that has the cigar that matches the band on their card. I am now in the process of getting enough bands... which is fun in its own right.

mild but nice -- and great for the wedding theme -- get some romeo y julietta or cupidos. 🙂

and yes, shorter is better. i got married in october, and no way did i have time for a cigar (and you had to smoke outdoors anyway).

make 'em short. robustos are the best of both worlds -- short but with some ring guage to them.

fuente short stories are just over $100 per box of 25 and they are an excellent smoke.

chateau fuente is also a very nice cigar for under $80 per box of 20

I'm sure there are plenty of others but these are a couple of my favorite cigars in the $4 price range

If you're looking to spend a little less, the V Centennial natural is a nice mild cigar and they come up here at CBid once in awhile or over on the CI site for about $2 a stick

Also on the CI site

Torano Cameroon 1916 corona box of 25 for $80

There's just way too many to choose from

OK one more. The Free Cuba bundles at CI are a two-fer special 50 cigars for $50 and they were Gonz's pick of the month for April. But the bands are a bit revealing!

At my reception I had a box of Don Diego maddies for all the guys to smoke. Lots of great pics of my groomsmen and I enjoying a smoke... also my wife couldn't believe it... some of her uncles whom she NEVER thought smoked lit up a stogie! The Donnie D's were a good choice as far as I'm concerned because they have really good mild flavors and the maddies are nice and mellow without boring the seasoned smoker. I always keep a few boxes of Don Diegos around as for a MILD SMOKE they have flavor profile that really agrees with me.
