Well i live about a 5 minute drive from Wisconsin border...maybe i'll cross and light something on fire and go back home (not feeling very rioty today)...

Had to add this on the edit:

A group of Wisconsin Democrats blocked passage of a sweeping anti-union bill today by ignoring orders to attend a vote. They left the state to force Republicans to negotiate over the proposal. Aides said they did not know where any of them had gone.

That is headline on Chicago Tribune...maybe i might just go riot...

I went to college in Madison. It's known as the Berkley of the Midwest. The environment there revolves around the UW first and the Capital of WI second. As such they have a protest every couple of months for one reason or another.

My favorite protests were...

1) Women protesting that they are not allowed to hang out on the beach topless like men - a topless march to the capitol building. It all hung out and the cops only arrested you if you got out of control. I casually watched in support.

2) Hemp fest - a yearly march to the capitol protesting mary jane laws. Smoke filled the air and the cops only arrested you if you got out of control . I casually watched in support.

3) Threeks vs Forks - not a march more of a organized protest. The school cafeterias switched to a three pronged fork and the students protested by stealing or throwing away all the "threeks." The school had to give in as their silverware supply diminished so they went back to forks.

It was a great place to go to college. Ever read The Onion? It was born in Madison.

Maybe they can ship some French Canadians down. The French, after all, have a history of building impenetrable walls.

Ooops... check that.

Didn't a group of Democratic legislators in Texas do that stunt within the last couple of years? SOmething about re-districting, I think.

Just like Wisconsin... a couple of years behind the latest fashions =d>

Re: Hempfest

I don't know if they still do it but we, ummm... they would start with "speeches" near Memorial Union in the morning then march down State St. and have more "speeches" at the Capital lawn. It was an all day fun event.

1,000's of folks wanting to change the hemp laws because, as you know, it's the world's premier food source. (Yeah, a bunch of left over hippies and college stoners will really organize effectively enough to become a powerful P.A.C.) But hey, it was fun.

I bet I have some great memories somewhere in some long lost brain cells.

This a almost a wet dream for me. Watching these overly pampered lefties getting their ashes handed to them after 8 years of a liberal Gov trying everything from free college and Drivers Licenses to illegals to successfully implementing a smoking ban.
