"Police: Zimmerman says Trayvon decked him with one blow then began hammering his head. ...

With a single punch, Trayvon Martin decked the Neighborhood Watch volunteer who eventually shot and killed the unarmed 17-year-old, then Trayvon climbed on top of George Zimmerman and slammed his head into the sidewalk, leaving him bloody and battered, law-enforcement authorities told the Orlando Sentinel.

That is the account Zimmerman gave police, and much of it has been corroborated by witnesses, authorities say. There have been no reports that a witness saw the initial punch Zimmerman told police about.

Zimmerman has not spoken publicly about what happened Feb. 26. But that night, and in later meetings, he described and re-enacted for police what he says took place.

In his version of events, Zimmerman had turned around and was walking back to his SUV when Trayvon approached him from behind, the two exchanged words and then Trayvon punched him in the nose, sending him to the ground, and began beating him.

Zimmerman told police he shot the teenager in self-defense.

Civil-rights leaders and more than a million other people have demanded Zimmerman's arrest, calling Trayvon a victim of racial profiling and suggesting Zimmerman is a vigilante.

Trayvon was an unarmed black teenager who had committed no crime, they say, who was gunned down while walking back from a 7-Eleven with nothing more sinister than a package of Skittles and can of Arizona iced tea.

Zimmerman's account

This is what the Sentinel has learned about Zimmerman's account to investigators:

He said he was on his way to the grocery store when he spotted Trayvon walking through his gated community.

Trayvon was visiting his father's fiancée, who lived there. He had been suspended from school in Miami after being found with an empty marijuana baggie. Miami schools have a zero-tolerance policy for drug possession. ..."

I have also seen in another report/article that Zimmerman claims the voice on the tape screeming for help is his, not Trayvon's...

Related – Meet The Real Trayvon Martin, Part One: Evidence Emerges He Was A Drug Dealer And Gang Banger

http://patdollard.com/2012/03/was-trayvon-martin-a-drug-dealing-gangbanger/

Excerpted from MiamiHerald – SANFORD — Miami Gardens teenager Trayvon Martin was suspended from school in October in an incident in which he was found in possession of women’s jewelry and a screwdriver that a schools security staffer described as a “burglary tool,” The Miami Herald has learned.

Trayvon, who claimed that an unnamed friend had given him the jewelry, was not disciplined because of the discovery, but was instead suspended for graffiti, according to a Miami-Dade Schools Police report obtained by The Miami Herald.

A lawyer for the dead teen’s family acknowledged Trayvon had been suspended for graffiti, but said the family knew nothing about the jewelry and the screwdriver, calling the information in the report an attempt to “demonize” the youth.

According to the report, on Oct. 21 staffers monitoring a security camera at Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School spotted Trayvon and two other students writing “W.T.F.,” an acronym for “What the f—,” on a hallway locker, according to schools police. The security employee, who knew Trayvon, confronted the teen and looked through his bag for the graffiti marker.

Trayvon’s backpack contained 12 pieces of jewelry, in addition to a watch and a large flathead screwdriver, according to the report, which described the screwdriver as a burglary tool.

Trayvon was asked if the jewelry, which was mostly women’s rings and earrings, belonged to his family or a girlfriend.

“Martin replied it’s not mine. A friend gave it to me,” according to the report. Trayvon declined to name the friend.

School police impounded the jewelry and sent photos of the items to detectives at Miami-Dade police for further investigation.

“Martin was suspended, warned and dismissed for the graffiti,” according to the report prepared by Miami-Dade Schools Police.

That suspension was followed four months later by another one, in February, in which Trayvon was caught with an empty plastic bag with traces of marijuana in it, the boy’s family’s attorney has confirmed. A schools police report obtained by The Miami Herald specifies two items: a bag with marijuana residue and a “marijuana pipe.”

This still doesn't mean he should've been shot and killed. All of the facts aren't out there yet. Here's who those "pillars" are defending. They're acting stupidly.

Don't throw the race card?

In attempting to defend Zimmerman the right is throwing the race 'card' all over the damn place. More prejiduce and racism than Zimmerman showed that night is being shown by those defending him using these stereotypes.
Just read this thread. People are attempting to make the kid look like a scary violent gangsta wearing a hoodie, on drugs, selling drugs and stalking the neighborhood looking for trouble. There is no evidence that is the case and saying so, by calling on stereotypes is playing the race card just as much as Sharpton et al are being accused of. Even if the guy was a killer on the loose, which he was not, Zimmerman had no way of knowing any of that. He was just going on there's another black guy walking the street. He has called 911 over 40 times about the same sh*t.

Now, even if the kid was attacking him, he was standing his ground. It's 7 pm, dark or getting dark, a person is merely walking down the street in an area where he is staying and has the right to be. A man in a car follows him around the neighborhood. His friend on the phone tells him to run when he tells her about it. He walks faster. Zimmerman gets out of his car and follows him on foot while talking to 911. They say we don't need you to do that. He does anyway while wearing his gun on his side in a holster. Even as a middle aged white man, I'd be worried for my safety, I don't care what the dude looks like, how brown or white he is. If I could get away, I will. If I can't, I will fight. Simple as that. I expect the rest of the folks here would do the same. Expecting a kid to walk up to a guy with a gun who is following him around to stop and ask him who or what he is is completely nuts. Zimmerman's state of mind at the time is being analyzed and defended, but what about Martin's state of mind? He was more than likely in fear for his safety and possibly his life too. Zimmerman's defenders don't even consider that. Why not?

Zimmerman starting the altercation by his actions. If you were in your home and you saw someone stalking around and looking at you through windows I know people here would defend the homeowner's right to defend himself. Hell, conservatives applauded Joe Horn and he wasn't even in danger. He left safety and went outside to confront people breaking into a neighbor's house and shot them dead. There wasn't even a self defense issue. I would expect the same principle would apply to Martin. But instead we get a black guys are scary and dangerous defense. You simply can't start an altercation, get beat up and shoot in self defense.

It's these racial stereotypes that are fanning the flames of those pissed that Zimmerman wasn't arrested at all, not the people pointing out the obvious injustice.

"Many conservatives these days urge us to make an "optimistic" assessment of the racial situation. At the same time, they refuse to see the pernicious racism that persists. That blindness does not justify optimism. Legitimate optimism comes from facing the problems squarely and working to overcome the insidious subtleties of bigotry that still abide in the land." Don't really know enough about it, my gut is Zimmerman was within his rights here in Florida to shot the kid... With that said, some are looking to hang him..... If some kid jumped on top of me and I had a gun (which I wouldn't since I don't carry) I would shoot him too... Unfortunately I would probably just get my arse kicked as I don't carry ....

Zimmerman life is going to be hell for a while at best, at worst hell end up having to defend himself in court. The guy screwed either way.....

Fuzz, You no more know these to be facts than the law knows what happened! This IS the stereo typical response by the black community when one of their people is killed by " someone of another race". No big deal when they kill one another on a regular basis.....oh **** I forgot that's someone else's fault too!!

TMC see this:

>> Zimmerman's attorney, Craig Sonner, says that Zimmerman acted in self-defense and is not a racist as some have portrayed him.

"I think we need to let the investigation come forward and let all the facts in this case come out," Sonner said on the "Today" show. "I think it's going to tell a different story than the way it's been related and portrayed in the media."

According to a CNN poll released Monday, 73 percent of Americans think police should arrest Zimmerman.

Meanwhile, the difference between the typical teenager Martin's family and supporters say he was and the way he presented himself on social media is the subject of increasing debate.

As Dan Linehan, a blogger at Wagist.com, pointed out, correspondence with Martin on Twitter before he died alludes to an incident with a bus driver. "Yu ain't tell me you swung on a bus driver," Martin's cousin wrote to him on Feb. 21.

The same week, Martin was suspended for 10 days from Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School in North Miami-Dade. "He was not suspended for something dealing with violence or anything like that," his father said. "It wasn't a crime he committed, but he was in an unauthorized area [on school property]," declining to offer more details.

But a family spokesman told the Associated Press on Monday that Martin was suspended because marijuana residue was found in his book bag.

More than 25,000 were expected to attend an afternoon rally in Sanford, Fla., on Monday for Martin, including the Rev. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and other civil rights leaders.

"The media is getting the Trayvon Martin story wrong," Michael Brendan Dougherty wrote on BusinessInsider.com, comparing it to the 2006 Duke lacrosse case, in which three members of the lacrosse team were accused of rape, resulting in a media firestorm and public outcry. The accuser's case unraveled, and the charges were eventually dropped.

"Oh how little we have learned," David Shane wrote on PolicyMic.com. The media has rushed to judgment yet again. Now, it's quite possible that Zimmerman is guilty of everything his worst foes accuse him of. There is plenty about this case that troubles me. But that's exactly the point—I don't know. Neither does anyone else, and both the scope and tone of the media coverage ought to reflect that fact."

TMCTLT wrote:

Ok, that wasn't a 'fact', I see what you did there. It was an 'even if' scenario and based on a couple witnesses who are saying Treyvon attacked first. So if Martin attacked first, or if Zimmerman actually attacked first, it doesn't matter. Zimmerman started the altercation long before physical contact by following Martin before any altercation. Again, if it were me, I would get away or attack, as would you in that situation.

So my knee jerk reaction without facts accusation is bs.
