Frank, what we need is context and perspective and intent.
If someone says "so-and-so is just as bad as Hitler" then that would be an ignorant statement.
If they say "he's like a mini Hitler, for crying out loud" that would be a reasonable insult.
I hear you when you say "Just" 70 years. But if 70 years makes the wounds too fresh, then how many is OK?

Hell, if we're going to hate on the Germans, then why the love affair with Japan? They are, after all, the last nation to attack us on our own soil.
Politicians need to know better when to use such terms as Gestapo because too many people DO get offended. It's too bad, but it's reality.
